About Kinematic:The study of forces that cause motion (ex. torque, gravity, friction, etc.) and can be classified into two groups; Linear and angular motion.

The study of describing movement (ex. displacement, time, velocity, etc.)

Kinetic architecture is a concept through which buildings are designed to allow parts of the structure to move, without reducing overall structural integrity.

A building's capability for motion can be used just to: enhance its aesthetic qualities; respond to environmental conditions and perform functions that would be impossible for a static structure.

The possibilities for practical implementations of kinetic architecture increased sharply in the late-20th century due to advances in mechanics, electronics, and robotics.

About Dynamic:This study is about speed, force, movements, driving etc.,

The newest modern architecture design concept is called Dynamic Architecture. Dynamic Architecture reveals three major innovations: changing shapes, industrial production of units and self-production of clean energy.

Dynamic Architecture buildings follow the sun and move to the wind, making modern architecture design more efficient and environment friendly.

Dynamic kinetic structures also exist within a larger architectural whole but act independently with respect to control of the larger context. Such can be subcategorized as Mobile, Transformable and Incremental kinetic systems.

The construction method and the ability to produce energy on its own are two of the most outstanding features of Dynamic Architecture buildings. These buildings are made of prefabricated units, custom-made in a workshop, to fit very high quality standards, resulting in fast construction, cost savings and fewer people on site.

Although we live in a Dynamic Universe filled with movement, the design methodology that has been given to Architecture is clearly static: buildings look the same all the time. As an approach to “Dynamic Architecture”, the design of a building with a changing geometry is examined in an attempt to explore factors that affect the design of this type of building.

HistoricThemes:By the early 21st century some interrelated themes had emerged. The first is for functional buildings such as bridges which can elevate their midsections to allow tall ships to pass, or stadiums with retractable roofs.

The ways in which the structural solution performs may include among others, folding, sliding, expanding, and transforming in both size and shape.

The means by which a kinetic structural solution performs may be, among others, pneumatic, chemical, magnetic, natural or mechanical.”

A second theme is for fantastic structures that can perform Transformer style changes of shape or which have a visually stunning appearance. The bird-like Burke Brise soleil at the Milwaukee Art Museum is a well regarded example of this, though it also has a functional aspect in that its movement allows it to shade the crowds from the sun or protect them from storms.

Yas Hotel – Abu Dhabi

Yas Viceroy Abu Dhabi Hotel is located within the Yas Marina Circuit, Abu Dhabi. It is the first new hotel in the world to be built over an F1 race circuit.

It consists of two twelve story hotel towers, one set within the race circuit and another placed in the Marina itself, linked together by a monocoque steel and glass bridge and Grid Shell structure that both cross above and over the Yas Marina Circuit F1 race track.

This architectural landmark embodying key influences and local and global inspirations ranging from the aesthetics and forms associated with speed, movement and spectacle to the artistry and geometries that form the basis of ancient Islamic art and craft traditions.

Of architectural and engineering significance is the

main feature of the project's design, a 217-meter expanse of

sweeping, curvilinear forms constructed of steel and 5,800 pivoting diamond-shaped glass

panels. This Grid-Shell component affords the building an architecture comprised of an

atmospheric-like veil that contains two hotel towers and a

link bridge constructed as a monocoque sculpted steel object passing above the

Formula 1 track that makes its way through the building complex. The Grid-Shell

visually connects and fuses the entire complex together while producing optical effects and spectral reflections that play against the surrounding sky,

sea and desert landscape.

The architecture as a whole “performs” as both an environmentally responsive solution as well as an architecture of spectacle and event. The entire jewel-like composition of the project responds visually and tectonically to its environment to create a distinct and powerful sense of place as well as a breathtaking backdrop to the Formula 1

Phoenix Stadium - Arizona

University of Phoenix Stadium was designed to be a truly multi-purpose facility with the ability to host football, basketball, soccer, concerts, consumer shows, motorsports, rodeos and corporate events.

Kinematics & dynamics

Designed by an architect Peter Eisenman, in conjunction with HOK Sport, Hunt Construction Group and Urban Earth Design.

One of the most unique features of the stadium is completely retractable natural grass playing field – the first of its kind in the United states.

The exterior skin represents a barrel cactus.

The field is kept outside the stadium most of its time for receiving the sunlight and water until the game day.

It takes completely 60 minutes to move the field.

The retractable panels and much of the roof are made up of translucent fabric called Birdair that enables light penetrate and gives the venue an open, airy feel.

Kinematics & dynamics

A few inches of water will always remain in the tray while the field is in play to keep the grass moist

The building features alternating sections of shimmering metal panels intended to reflect the shifting desert light alongside magnificent vertical glass slots allowing patrons a spectacular view of the horizon from any level of the exterior. There are 21 vertical slots on the exterior wall of the stadium

The stadium is aligned along a slight northwest to southeast axis to offer the maximum sun exposure for the grass field and maximum shades for the patrons.

The Stadium normally seats about 63,400 but for the Fiesta bowl capacity will be expanded more than 73,000
