Kindertransport Commemorative Prayer Our Jewish history is defined by important journeys to better futures. Abraham leaves his home and his land to go out for himself and start a nation. The Children of Israel escape Egypt to seek our Promised Land. 80 years ago, 10,000 Jewish children were sent on their own journey of deliverance on the Kindertransport, being saved from the darkness and tragedy of the Shoah and given their opportunity to ensure another chapter of our tradition could be written. All those saved and all of their descendants are an eternal blessing to our communities. We stand indebted to those in Britain and across Europe whose tireless efforts rescued so many lives. Only by following their example can we even come close to repaying our debt of gratitude. May we be forever enriched by the memory of the Kindertransport, and may we too use all of our efforts to save those who are vulnerable in our time and who also seek a passage to safety, just as we once did. May such be God’s will. Amen. Prayer by Rabbi Laura Janner-Klausner

Kindertransport Commemorative Prayer

Our Jewish history is defined by important journeys to better futures.

Amen.
