Consumable Books The consumable Phonics Kindergarten 2 textbook is the second book in our systematic

sequence phonics program. Phonics is a major element in developing strong reading skills that

help students grow to become confident readers. Muslim School Books’ Phonics Kindergarten

2 textbook helps students build on foundational skills learned in our first phonics book, Phonics

Reading Readiness. Phonics Kindergarten 2 provides phonics practice utilizing reading

listening, speaking, and writing activities all in one 171-page textbook. It is designed to enhance

early reading development.

The Phonics Kindergarten 2 textbook uses a highly effective approach to sounding out words

phonetically. It reviews or introduces consonant, short vowel, and diphthong sounds and teaches

the sound/symbol relationship. The text also includes sight words that are frequently found in

students’ everyday vocabulary. All phonics words and sight words are introduced in a systematic

manner that helps students decode story words more easily. All letters and letter sounds are

reviewed at the end of each lesson in the cumulative pages.

Designed for Muslim Learners Islamic learning shouldn’t stop at the end of Islamic Studies class. What makes the Phonics

Kindergarten 2 book unique among other phonics books out there? The Phonics Kindergarten 2

book avoids images of people or animals. Our books also avoid images that might be offensive

to the Islamic way of life such as musical instruments, wigs, magic, and witches. What our books

do include, however, are images that reflect your young learner’s Islamic identity. Your student

will practice phonics skills with pictures that include the hijab, niqab, Kaba, masjid, Zamzam

well, coofie, miswak, and other Islamic cultural items that help him or her feel comfortable about

has educated students at an Islamic School in Los Angeles for nearly 40 years. She specialized in

teaching reading to kindergarteners and first graders for over 20 years. She is familiar with
