    Day 1, Thursday April 12t

    2012 This morning make your own way to Beijing Capital Airport, Terminal 2, to depart aapproximately 1400 (times vary slightly and 2012 schedules are TBC flights over the years have typically departe

    between 1100 and 1500). The short 80 90 minute flight with Air Koryo, JS 252, will bring the group into Pyongyang in thlate afternoon. After passing through immigration the group will formally come together for the first time and meet oguides and driver who will be with us for the rest of our time in Korea. Driving into the city transfer to the Yanggakdo Hotewhere we will be based whilst in Pyongyang. After checking in and having some time to relax enjoy a welcome dinner in thhotel. (D) Please note that if you miss your flight to Pyongyang you will miss the tour, so we STRONGLrecommend that you have at least one night in Beijing before the trip departs.Day 2, April 13

    t: This morning check out of the Yanggakdo Hotel and head into the city centre, to visit the fountains at th

    foot of Mansu Hill. From here visit the famous Mansudae Grand Monument, the centre piece of which is the spectacular 2metre tall bronze statue of Kim Il Sung. Millions of Koreans visit this site each year to pay their respects to the Presidenand the group will be expected to lay a wreath of flowers at the foot of the statue before bowing in unison before it. Fromhere visit the nearby Grand People's Study House, the national library home to 30+ Million volumes. Crossing the TaedonRiver visit the Juche Tower. The tower is a symbol of the Juche Idea (national self reliance, literally Master of ones selfpenned by Kim Il Sung. Those who wish can pay a small fee (5 Euros at the time of writing) and be whisked via a lift to thtop of the Tower for impressive views over the central city. From the Juche Tower enjoy a walk to the famous OkryRestaurant, where we will have lunch. This afternoon depart Pyongyang and drive north to Mt. Myohyang. Here visit thPohyon Temple, founded in 1042 yet sadly heavily damaged in the Korean War. Overnight at the Chongchon Hotel, wheyou will also have dinner. (B/L/D)Day 3, 14

    tApril: Checking out of our hotel visit the fascinating International Friendship Exhibition, a massive comple

    housing the many thousands of diverse gifts presented to Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong ll over the years. The buildings, buinto the mountain-side, home endless corridors and rooms lined with diverse gifts from all over the world keep an eye ofor the gift from Regent Holidays! After a picnic lunch in the Manpok Valley we will return to Pyongyang, visiting thMangyondae Revolutionary Site, the birthplace of President Kim Il Sung, en-route. Before returning to the Yanggakdo Hotfor dinner and a three night stay visit the USS Pueblo, a 850 ton US spy boat captured in 1968 by the Koreans. The ship inow moored on the Taedong River, near the spot were in 1866 the US trade ship the General Sherman was sunk. (B/L/D)

    April 100 ANNIVERSARY OF THE BIRTH OF PRESIDENT KIM IL SUNG: This morning visit thawesome Kumsusan Memorial Palace, near the foot of Mt. Taesong. The Memorial Palace is the former residence, annow Mausoleum, of President Kim Il Sung. The Mausoleum itself is followed by exhibits showcasing medals of hono

    bestowed upon the President and a monument depicting the mourning of the nation after his death in 1994. For this site wwill be required to dress smartly. From here visit the nearby Revolutionary Martyrs Cemetery, home to the graves of ov200 of Koreas leading resistance figures over the years of Japanese rule, including the grave of Kim Jong Suk, PresidenKim Il Sungs wife. If the sky is clear we will be rewarded with good views over Pyongyang. Moving on visit the KimilsungiFlower Exhibition before enjoying lunch on the Taedong River aboard the No. 1 Floating Restaurant. This afternoon enjoywalk through the city, to see the historical sites of the Taedong Gate, Ryongwang Pavilion and the Pyongyang Bronze BeAlso this afternoon visit Moran Hill park, the main city park in Pyongyang. Here the group can take a leisurely walk througthe attractive surroundings (this is normally a good spot for people watching and trying to mingle with the locals). Thevening we expect celebrations to take place in Kim Il Sung Square, if so we will strive to attend. This evening enjoy dinnein the Paradise Restaurant, one of the finest restaurants in Pyongyang.     tApril: Today we will take a day trip from Pyongyang to visit Kaesong, Panmunjom and the DMZ. Departing th

    capital head south along the reunification highway towards and through Kaesong to Panmunjom - the DMZ and border wiSouth Korea. Upon arrival at Panmunjom, which is often the highlight of any visit to North Korea, the group will meet wit

    an army escort who will explain the background of the history of the DMZ, before you move on to the Armistice Talks Haand the building (and attached small museum) where the Armistice was signed. From here head down to the border itsewhere you will be (local conditions permitting) escorted, possibly under the watchful eye of the South Korean soldiers, inone of the huts which straddle the North-South Korean border.

    5. This tour requires a minimum of 10 persons to operate and will be escorted by a Tours Manager from Regent Holidays.6. *You must have a North Korean visa before entering North Korea. This is arranged in London (for British Citizens an

    residents in the UK and for some other nationalities) and the visa fee is included in the price. We go through the entire visapplication process with our clients, and handle all the documents/invitations/passports for those having their visas issued the UK, to make this as simple as possible for our visitors to the DPRK. For clients who will be collecting their visas in Be ijingelsewhere the visa fee is not included and they will need to pay this direct to the Embassy. Those who wish to go in person the North Korean Embassy in London to obtain their visa can do so, but the visa fee will not be refundable. You will also neea Double Entry Chinese Visa, and this is normally straightforward to arrange. We are happy to advise the best way of obtaininthis.

    7. We will always ensure that when handling passports these will be sent via Special Delivery or Courier, and for our UK clienno additional charge is levied for the return of your passports (a charge of 25 will be made if you require courier delivehowever). For clients living outside the UK we will charge a fixed fee of 25 for the return of any valuable documents/passpor(please ask for further details).

    8. This trip spends time in remote areas in North Korea. Whilst clients are not required to be particularly physically fit days can b

    long and tiring. Facilities outside Pyongyang can be basic, and some hotels do not offer hot water. In these remote areapower cuts can also be common.

    9. We can try to pair up same-sex single travellers, if willing, into twin rooms, thus avoiding the single room supplement. This wbe allocated on a requested first come first serve basis, and if a willing person cannot be found the single supplement will bcharged to the client.

    10. The itinerary may vary depending on special events inside North Korea; additionally other places of interest may be included the itinerary and the order of the itinerary may be altered due to factors beyond our control. Please do bear in mind that givethat this tour is scheduled to visit some unusual sites/places it is possible that some of these visits will be cancelled due tfactors beyond the control of Regent Holidays and our local guides.

    11. Air Koryo is an airline partially blacklisted from operating within the EU. Their fleet is largely made up of ageing, yet wemaintained Soviet built aircraft, although some new aircraft were incorporated into the fleet in 2008.

    12. Restrictions placed upon clients that MUST be adhered to include, (but are not exclusively), as below:a.)Tourists are NOT PERMITTED to walk freely within Korea, and must stay with their guides at all times when not in the hotel. DNOT attempt to detach yourself from the group or sneak out of the hotel at night.

    b.) Tourists MUST NOT break photographic restrictions that are in place, in North Korea it is nearly always 100% obvious whshould not be photographed if in any doubt always ask your guide.
