Thomas Russell’s Juvenile GAA News
The U9 and U10 footballers
who finished their season with
a Monster Blitz in Mallow GAA.
Kilshannig captured the County
U16 Premier 2 Football Champi-
onship Title recently with victory
over Carbery Rangers and in do-
ing so created history with the
U16 Footballers
Make History
club claiming a Rebel Og Premier
title for the first time. It was a re-
markable achievement for a superb
bunch of players and overcame a
number of strong challenges
throughout the campaign.
Kilshannig defeated Valley
Rovers (3-9 to 0-7), Ilen Rov-
ers (1-8 to 0-5) and
St.Finbarr's (3-9 to 3-5) to
progress to the final. In the
final itself, Kilshannig were
deserved winners and two
first half goals from Conor
McMahon and Stephen Gog-
gin were crucial to lead 2-3
to 0-4 at half time. McMahon
added a second half goal and
while Carbery Rangers made
a late comeback, Kilshannig
emerged victorious, 3-5 to 1-
8. With the majority of the
panel having lost a County
U16 Hurling Final earlier in
the year, it was an excellent
achievement by the players
to regroup and make up for
it on the football front. A
special mention to the
team's mentors also for their
hard work and help all year,
Denis Healy, Tadgh Twomey,
Kevin O'Callaghan and Larry
McMahon.

The Club was delighted to be chosen as the Cailin Ogra team to play the
half time exhibition match at the Munster Championship of Cork Ladies
Versus Kerry Ladies in Legion Killarney. 10 players played Dr. Crokes
(Killarney) at half time and did their clubs proud. The score after the
match was 0-2 to 0-2. Well done to Cork who were crowned Munster
Champions on the day.

This year, the Kilshannig Ladies
Football Club fielded an Under 21
team for the first time and a Junior
team for the first time in many
years. This has been a major under-
taking for the Club, but we are
thrilled to provide ongoing Ladies
Football opportunities to our play-
ers as they grow up. Pictured here
are the Juniors in their Gortroe Inn
jerseys at their last game of the
season.

breaking 34,445,

Completion Of
Main Pitch
Kilshannig Club Development Pro-
gramme has been in place for 13
years, which included (among
other items) the Sports Complex,
the upgrading of the second pitch
and bringing the main pitch to all
weather status. The cost of these
has amounted to approximately €
1.2million. The club has effec-
tively no debt, partly in thanks to
the generosity of the Kilshannig
community. The two items that
remain to be finished are lighting
of the main pitch, and the erec-
tion of a small spectator stand.
To this end, the Club are asking
Kilshannig families for temporary
financial assistance in the form of
interest free loans, which will be
paid back to the families in 3-5
years. If you are in a position to
make such a loan, please contact
any member of the Kilshannig
GAA Committee (or the Juvenile
Club / Ladies Club committees).
Thank you for your support.
Minors Fall Short in North
Cork Finals After two successful campaigns
our minors ultimately came up
short in their respective Minor A
Hurling and Football
Championship Finals. Following
impressive victories over Keale
Gaels and Cuchulainns, our
hurlers came up against a very
strong Ballygiblin side and won
comfortably on the night with
Ballygiblin going on to win county
honours. The footballers had
excellent wins over Kanturk and
Boherbue to set up a final
meeting with Fermoy. This final
was a much closer affair but
unfortunately Fermoy came out
on top by a two point margin.
While neither side achieved
North Cork success, it was a
superb achievement to make two
Minor A Finals in the one year..
All is not lost yet however for
both sides. As beaten, North Cork
finalists the footballers qualified
for the county stages and a
convincing quarter final win over
St. Vincent's has set up a semi
final rematch with Fermoy while
the hurlers progressed to the
league final following a 1-21 to 2-
12 victory over Banteer.
