Smog was so thick that you could hardly see…

7000 residents (1/2 of the town’s population) had respiratory symptoms…
Some had nausea and vomiting, headaches and abdominal
cramps as well.
After 5 days, rain began to fall and wash the pollutants
from the sky.
In a 12-hour period, 18 people died.
Within a month, the number was up to 70.
