Kids Club in the Woods is a Holiday Club with a difference. Set in local woodlands

children spend the whole day outdoors. There are games, craft activities, den

making, safe tool use and campfire cooking to name but a few of the activities.

Forest School is a unique hands on learning experience that helps build self esteem and

is a great place to meet new friends. For children aged 7-13 at 9.30am-3.30 pm (Summer

months) or 10am-3pm (Winter months) every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday during all

school holidays in Northop and Caerwys. £60 for three days (Tues, Wed, Thurs) or £22 for

single days.

Saplings Kids Club is a one day version of their popular Kids Club in the Woods,

designed for younger children aged 5-7. It will introduce the children to the woodland, teach

them how to be safe around the campfire, make dens and use the woods as a backdrop for

imaginative free play. At 10am-2.30pm on 25th March, 31st May, 2nd & 16th August and

1st November at Caerwys. £20 per day.

Family Forest Fun is designed to encourage parents and children to enjoy the outdoors

together. Sessions are free (funded by Awards for All) and will take place every fourth

Saturday 10.30am-2pm. There is a different theme for each session and some have

specific target age groups due to planned activities although all ages are welcome. For

Groundwork’s all weather holiday club will be open again this Easter holidays and Whit

Half Term offering exciting outdoor activities and adventure for 8 – 13 year olds in a great

woodland setting.

Based in Tanyfron, Wrexham, the holiday club is unique, with many of the activities taking

place in the woods at Groundwork’s Plas Power site (weather permitting). The children get

to enjoy the great outdoors with adventurous activities like den

building, pond dipping, environmental art and beastie hunting. All

DRAMA, DANCE & MUSIC SPRING 2013

Theatretrain is celebrating it's 20th Birthday by taking over the O2 in London with a

show featuring 3000 children from all over the UK. Pupils from local schools in

Chester, Mold and Wrexham will all be taking part in this spectacular event. New

pupils joining now will also be eligible to take part. It's no wonder that they've earned their

reputation as "The Company That Loves To Perform" as in the last year pupils from the

schools in Wrexham, Chester and Mold have taken part in Theatretrain shows at The

Forum Studio Theatre in Chester, The Palace Theatre in Manchester, The Stiwt in

Wrexham and even The Royal Albert Hall in London. Weekly classes of singing, dancing

and acting not only teach performance skills, but also valuable developmental skills about

teamwork, discipline and confidence building.

Registrations are now being taken for children wanting to join Theatretrain Saturday

Morning Schools in Wrexham, Chester and Mold as well as the Friday Evening School at

Chester's Forum Studio Theatre (the old Gateway Theatre).

Theatretrain was established in 1992 and has 100 schools across the UK and Ireland. It

concentrates on two processes - learning skills in the performing arts and performing those

skills to an audience. Every year each child in Theatretrain's schools has the opportunity

to perform in at least one production either locally, in one of the larger regional theatres or

in the West End.

This year's themed Summerschools are also booking. The week-long workshops give

children classes in singing, dancing and acting whilst working towards an end of week

Clwyd Theatr Cymru runs an

extensive programme of weekly

drama workshops for children

and young people. These are structured to

offer opportunities to develop creativity in

a safe environment and to explore how we

can use our voices, bodies & imaginations

to tell stories on stage. The workshops are

available for 5-18 year olds.

Clwyd Theatr Cymru also run specialist

groups for young people with additional

needs and/or learning difficulties called

Fuse/Fuse On for 11–25 year olds, using

the medium of performing arts to enhance

social & personal development. The

participants build on their performing skills

and create pieces to perform in public

productions.

Summer Time at Clwyd Theatr Cymru is

open to everyone regardless of ability:

Junior Youth theatre for children aged 6–

11 years and a Senior Youth Theatre for

11-16 year olds.

Performing Arts offer weekly

dance classes for children aged 2

When Karen of Party Rockin had her gorgeous baby Olivia, seven years ago her life

changed, as many of us found when we became mums. Like every new mum Karen tried to

ages which support the Early Years

Foundation Phase. The nursery is

registered for 30 children aged between 3

months and 8 years. Two self-contained

buildings and an outside play area allow

babies to be cared for in the ‘little nursery’

until they are ready to move into ‘big

nursery’ somewhere between 18mths and

2 years allowing separate facilities for

babies and toddlers/pre-schoolers. Before

and after school care is available along

with school transport. Staff strive to build

strong relationships with you and your

children and will ensure that the individual

A group of French 12-17yr olds are

coming to Deeside in July for short visits

to learn English. Live & Learn Abroad

are looking for friendly families to welcome

them into their homes. They would like to

hear from families in the Connahs Quay,

Queensferry, Mold, Flint and Hawarden

areas. The students have all been learning

English for several years. The whole aim

of the holiday is to improve their speaking

of English and to allow them to experience

English Culture. The students will attend

organised activities all day Mon-Sat. The

English course is based at John Summers

High School and in the afternoons they

have sports activities at Deeside Leisure

Centre. Students should be able to use

public transport after a little initial help.

The students are expected to join into

family activities during the evenings and

one day of the weekend. Each family will

receive £182 hospitality fee for the 13

nights (1 student) & £345 (2 students).
