FROM THE

WELCOME

On behalf of Blacktown City FC, we would like to welcome our members, supporters,

and players to our home ground Lily’s Homes Stadium for today’s 8th round match against Manly United FC.

Today we are giving a special welcome to those who have joined us for Mother & Daughter’s Day; we hope you enjoy your evening. To all our families from our SAP & Youth teams we thank you for joining us also.

At Blacktown City FC we are committed to forming strong and long lasting relationships with our sponsors, partners & local community. Our aim is to increase participation in football at all levels. We are focused on increasing our presence in the community and creating a positive environment that we can maintain so that Blacktown City FC can remain a top premier club.

First Grade recorded a thrilling 3-2 victory over Sydney Olympic last Sunday and remain undefeated in the PS4 National Premier League NSW Men’s competition; the team is hoping to keep their winning streak alive against another tough opponent today.

During the week, we also played our second WFFA Cup match defeating a resilient Lokomotiv Cove FC 2-0.

Our 20s have recently been in great form, winning their last 4 games and setting themselves up for a really good season.

Coach John Carnevale said that last week’s performance against Olympic was an impressive team performance. The boys have been working hard and are adapting well to the demands of senior football. The 18s also bounced back into the winner’s circle last week winning 4-2 against Sydney Olympic, coach Nicholas Verdos said that the boys are working hard and the result last week was a step in the right direction.

To our sponsors and partners, welcome and thank you for your ongoing support because without you we cannot operate as a football club.

The club would like to congratulate Mark (Critto) Crittenden on his 200th game as first grade coach which he achieved against Sydney Olympic last weekend. Congratulations also to our First Grade assistant coach Luke Roodenburg and his wife Natalie on the birth of their 3rd child, Levi Jack Roodenburg.

Best of luck to our Youth teams who are playing against Rockdale City Suns FC and also our SAP teams who are playing against Nepean FC this weekend.

Enjoy a great day of football and we hope to see you again at our next home game in Round 11 when we host Sydney United 58 FC.

Kind Regards Chris Michael Business Development & Marketing Manager Blacktown City Football Club

FIRST GRADE

An unbeaten start to the season has Blacktown CIty FC in great shape ahead

of a blockbuster clash with Manly United on Saturday.

City were forced to cling on against a fast finishing Sydney Olympic FC at Belmore last week but were able to get the job done.

Central Defenders Shayne D’Cunha and Zach Cairncross were late ommisions from the starting line-up against Olympic but are expected to start this week.

Danny Choi is starting to find form again and the pace of new signing James Andrew has also caused trouble for opposition sides.

Manly come into the match with an injury cloud around veteran striker Dylan Macallister who was forced off early against Rockdale City Suns last week.

Warren Grieve’s side will rue last week’s 3-3 draw against Rockdale which they lead 3-1 with six minutes to go.

Expect a much improved performance in what is sure to be an entertaining matchup.

Sydney Olympic FC 2 - Blacktown City FC 3 at Belmore Sports Ground

Blacktown City has flexed it’s PlayStation®4 National Premier Leagues NSW Men’s premiership credentials with a hard fought 3-2 win against Sydney Olympic FC at Belmore Sports Ground on Sunday.

City looked on track to cruise to an easy win before an inspired second half performance from Olympic forced a nervous finish for the visitors.

An own goal from Yianni Spyrakis in the second minute was compounded by a Daniel Araujo strike in the opening exchanges, while Danny Choi had the result seemingly wrapped up inside the first half with a goal five minutes from the interval.

However, the game would take a dramatic turn during the second 45 minutes as a Yu Kuboki double gave Olympic hope of a miraculous comeback.

Blacktown move to third on the ladder after the win, only one point behind leaders APIA Leichhardt Tigers, and are one of two undefeated side remaining in the competition.

Manly United FC 3 - Rockdale City Suns 3 at Cromer Park

Two goals in the last five minutes from striker Jordan Figon rescued a point for Rockdale in a pulsating 3-3 PlayStation®4 National Premier Leagues NSW Men’s competition draw with Manly United on Sunday afternoon at Cromer Park.

The home side were shell shocked at the final whistle, shattered they had just thrown two points away.

It was a match filled with twists and turns as Harris Gaitatzis gave Rockdale an early lead before Manly raced away when Scott Balderson and Dejan Pandurevic hit the back of the net.

An own goal for Rockdale just added to their frustrations as they headed for what seemed like a demoralising defeat before Figon chipped in with his late game heroics.

UNDER 20s

Blacktown City FC bounced back from a 2-0 loss to Bonnyrigg White Eagles with a

comprehensive defeat of Sydney Olympic in the last round of fixtures, a 6-1 win at Belmore Park that puts the hosts in good stead for their round 8 matchup against Manly United on Saturday afternoon. Manly United travel to Lilys Football Centre a week after their round 7 loss to Rockdale City Suns at Cromer Park, a result which saw them slip a place in the table to eighth. Depending on results elsewhere, Manly could move as high as fourth with a win here, while Blacktown City can only hope to keep pace with Sutherland Sharks; in second place and four points behind the competition leaders. This fixture ended in a 3-1 win for the visitors in 2016.
