KICK AZ-S NEWS
The Arizona District Rally in Tucson was a lot of fun again this year. I always enjoy seeing old friends, attending seminars, and riding the local roads. Congratulations to Maryann and Joe on reaching the Masters Level in the Rid-ers Education Program. I also received my Level IV Masters number at the rally and am honored to join some of the best motorcycle riders I’ve ever met. When I signed up in the Riders Education Program a few years ago I never realized how much I was going to learn, and I’ve been riding motorcycles since I was a kid. This is a worthy goal every rider and co-rider in GWRRA should set. GWRRA is get-ting close to issuing Masters number 10,000 and I bet that lucky person is going to be in-cluded in a Wing World article. Contact any Chapter Educator to get signed up in the Rider Education Program and check out the require-ments included in this newsletter.
At the GWRRA Conventions First Aid/CPR
courses are offered at a very reasonable cost. Dick Muto got his certification on Saturday morn-ing and after the Precision Motorcycle Drill Teams performances we rode to the top of MT Lemmon. There we got to witness a air ambu-lance extraction of an injured motorcycle rider from the top of the mountain. Thankfully first re-sponders were quickly dispatched to the acci-dent but on a less travelled road Dick and I may have had to put our first aid skills to use. You just never know when you may come across someone in need and I encourage you to get your First Aid/CPR certification and carry a First Aid Kit on your motorcycle. The big events that this course will be offered next year are the Re-gion F Rally over Memorial Day weekend in Al-buquerque, New Mexico, Wing Ding over Labor Day week in Billings, Montana, and the Arizona District Rally over Halloween weekend in Lake Havasu City. Make plans to attend!
Don’t forget Veterans Day celebrations coming up on Wednesday the 11th! Come join us in downtown Phoenix and thank a Veteran for their service. I’ll be leaving Scottsdale at 9:00 AM to attend but included the parade route map in case you want to meet downtown. A GWRRA couple visiting from New Hampshire has rented a Gold Wing so after the parade we are probably headed out on a ride if you want to join in.
Ride safe!

The Return of the Winter Visitors
KICK AZ-S NEWS
Cool weather brings the return of our winter visitors and for the opportunity for more riding. Joe and I return to our winter home on Saturday, October 24th and hit the motorcycle on Friday the 30th to take a ride down to Oro Valley and attend the annual AZ District Rally. There were 8 members from Chapter S in attendance and I know we all en-joyed ourselves.
Joe and I made a goal a few years back when we purchased our home and return to a more active roll in Chapter S, that we would work towards our Masters Of Tour Riding. At the Sunday morning Master’s breakfast at the rally Joe and I received our Masters, along with our Chapter S Director John Read. It is such a great accomplishment to know we finally did it after 28 years in the organization. I’m not saying it should take you that long, in no way; it just took us that long for many various reasons. We now will continue with our education in the Master’s program to continue to grow in our knowledge of motorcycling safety. If you are a member and are not aware of what the Master’s Pro-gram is talk with a GWRRA Educator, or anyone that is a Master. GWRRA is coming up on its 10,000 member with a Masters.
Speaking of the AZ Rally, the 2016 rally will be held in Lake Havasu City, AZ on October 28th – 30th. Early registra-tion bonus is $5 off per member if you register by January 15th, 2016. I’m thinking that we should make a goal of seeing how many Chapter S members would ride as a group to the rally next year. If you like the “Beach”, this is a great opportunity and you will get to meet some great people from all over AZ and have loads of FUN!
We have a new member, Dennis Donato, of Scottsdale, as of September. When you see him give him a big wel-come to GWRRA and Chapter S, we are growing in small numbers but’s that’s okay, we are headed in the right direc-tion.
We hope to see you all at the gathering this Saturday, November 7th at Deer Valley.

Chapter S interim Rider Educators —Help Wanted
KICK AZ-S NEWS
What crosses your mind when you see “HELP WANTED! on a storefront sign, or on a poster (or in this article)? Do you think, “I'm retired. I don't want another job?” Or perhaps, “Been there, done that.” Or maybe you immediately wipe it from your con-sciousness. However, if you think, “I wonder what that's about”, please continue reading. We are looking for someone, or several someones, to serve as the Chapter Educator (CE) for Chapter S. So let me describe what the rider education is, the qualifications this/these persons need, and what is expected. According to the Rider Education Program Handbook, “The role of an Educator at the Chapter level is to Inform and Influence. As an Educator you are a “Dream Maker”. You provide the opportunity for our Members to get the needed instruction and train-ing to travel the open road with confidence. Through your guidance, you help prepare them for the unpredictable and unforeseen. Through your example, you demonstrate our motto “Safety is for Life”. The Chapter Educator position is perhaps one of the most important in GWRRA. The desire to reduce injuries and fatalities for the motorcycle community is a high calling indeed. As the words safety and knowledge account for two thirds of the GWRRA motto, “FRIENDS FOR FUN, SAFETY AND KNOWLEDGE”, it is important the Chapter Educator be committed to safe motorcycle riding and is capable of furthering the knowledge of our participants regarding safe motorcycle handling. It is the primary responsibility of the CE to stress the importance of the Rider Education Program and strive for maximum Member participation. This position requires dedication, commit-ment, perseverance, patience and plain hard work. The Chapter Educator is just that, an Educator, not an enforcer, who can inform and influence Chapter participants, or any person who desires to become a safer Rider or Co-Rider, about the GWRRA Rider Education Program. It is important for the Chapter Educator be an effective motivator and to always lead by example, but not dictate. “People Skills” are a must, and the Chapter Educator must stand ready to promote, support, uphold and maintain a desire to improve the Rider Education Program. It is the responsibility of the Chapter Educator to communicate the importance of the REP and the benefits received as a result of participation.

To become a Chapter Educator, the candidate must possess certain qualifications, as follows: Must be a current GWRRA Member or Associate Member and an experienced mo-
torcycle Rider or Co-rider. Be dedicated to the promotion and growth of the Rider Education Program within
the chapter as a Member benefit. Must be current, minimum Level II (see exception above), in the Rider Education
Levels Program with the desire and intent to progress. If applicant has achieved higher than Level II, they must remain current at that level.
Be dedicated to the safe operation of motorcycles and exhibit a sincere desire to promote motorcycle safety through the Rider Education Program.

Possess sufficient communication skills, both verbal and written, in order to be an effective representative of the Rider Education Program.
Have the ability to work effectively in a harmonious relationship with the District Educator, Chapter Director and Chapter participants.
Following are some of the general duties of the Chapter Educator: Promote and implement the Rider Education Program at the Chapter level. Promote and participate in such activities that will expand the Rider Education Pro-
gram within the Chapter and District. These should include speaking at Chapter Gatherings and furnishing articles for the Chapter Newsletter concerning safety, availability of training opportunities and the GWRRA Rider Education Program.
Develop ideas to increase participation and improve communication in the Chap-ter.
Use the on-line REP database to maintain such records as necessary to facilitate keeping Chapter participants’ information current in the REP. Using the appropri-ate forms, submit in a timely manner required changes to their District Educator.
Promote and arrange for Seminars, CPR/First Aid certification and Rider Training courses at the Chapter level. Ensure that information regarding scheduled courses is published in the Chapter Newsletter.
So that's it in a nutshell. If you are just a tiny bit interested but would like more in-formation, just stop Char or I and we'll try to answer your questions. Or contact our Chapter Director, John Read. Cliff and Char Simpson

Practice Field Days give all riders, regardless of riding abilities, a chance to practice and increase their riding skills. These multi-chapter field days give riders an opportunity to ride a variety of ma-neuvers at their own skill level, to ask questions and to have fun rid-ing. Have trouble getting your Wing on it’s center stand? Not sure how to pick it up? This is the place to learn!
All riders, all levels are welcome. In keeping with the GWRRA tradition of SAFETY, all riders must wear hel-mets, long sleeves, long pants, over the ankle boots and full-finger gloves.
See you there!
