The first escort team of police officers started as a routine mission of
shifting a Muslim terrorist Iqbal Ansari from Chandangadh to Mumbai but
this ended as a nightmare
Now on the orders of minister, the Police Chief decides to send a
another team of five able police officers, under DCP Anant srivastav
(Amitabh Bachchan)
DCP Shrivastav's team consists of
• Senior Inspector Shekhar Verma (Played by Akshay Kumar ),
• Sub- Inspector Ashwin Gupte (Tusshar Kapoor )
• Two constables, Kamlesh Sawant and Mhatre.
• A woman called Mahalakshmi (Aishwarya Rai) joins them for her
protection, as she is the only witness to have seen Angre.
The team is armed with traditional Indian police's weapons and ready
to go, but danger lurks everywhere as the gang is determined to make sure
the police team with Dr. Iqbal Ansari does not make it to Mumbai.

• Building the team is like recruitment. One needs to select the right
people and motivate them
• Here Amitabh bacchan shows assertive skill and plans his team and
organizes team activities.
•
A leader cannot achieve success alone.• The old notion that a leader is "the top of the pyramid" is false.
• An effective leader is involved and in touch with group members.
• A leader develops a vision of the organization's future. It is important
to communicate this vision to members of the group, allowing them to
respond and become part of the visioning process.
• A good leader should set realistic goals and should take care that the
approach for the accomplishment of the goal is in the right direction.
Slide 7
Autocratic leadership
• Here ajay devgan as Yashwant Angre, Former Police Officer shows
autocratic leadership where he is an ego centric leader and dominates
the entire interaction.
• He places his motives above his followers and the aim of the
organization.
• He is selfish and can go to any extent to fulfill his personal goals.
•
Rewards obedience and punishes mistakes• And engages in one –way downward communication.

mistake his enemy commits so that it’s easy for him to catch him.
• A leader should always be a good observer and vigilant.
Slide 10
Situational leadership theory
• Akshay kumar uses situational leadership approach, he is cautious,
alert and thinks of a problem from every angle and leaves no stone
unturned. He uses both commanding and consultative approach in
finding out that they have been framed and there is a bomb in their
police van. He shows high intelligence at right time and takes a big
step in taking right decision of running out of the vehicle to protect
their lives.

• This is well explained by Amitabh bachhan as he convinces and
motivates the corrupt police officer by his words.
• He inspires him in such a way that the corrupt officer realizes his
duties and follows the right path of honesty towards his work and
help Amitabh bachhan in achieving his goals.
• Amitabh bachhan makes use of transformational leadership theory to
get work done through the police officer by being able to motivate
and inspire him.
Slide 12
Facing challenge
• Here Amitabh Bachchan is a good leader who always put more effort
than the organization expects from them.• They do activities that the majority of people won't do. Where most
people quit they persevere. This serves as an excellent example to
their team which then strives to achieve much more.
• A good leader doesn’t just order things; he does it so that others can
do it.
• They not only motivate themselves in personal development but also
motivate those around them.

• Here Sub-Insp. Ashwin Gupte (Tusshar Kapoor) possesses decision
making ability which is one of the most vital effective leadership
qualities, because it decides the success or failure in a set mission.
• He show presence of mind and takes proper and courageous decision
to encounter Ajay Devgan, otherwise he could have become a treat to
the entire police force.
• Decision making abilities require a lot of logical thinking, risk taking
abilities and complete knowledge of what would be the effects or the
results of any action taken after a few tears.
