I Will Catch the Ring © David S. Bathory
ride on the outside edge-Hanging on by a threadReaching out- Reaching in- For the Ring.
No fear will bind meEach time it passes byI stretch inside to find another wayI will catch the ring.
It doesn’t matter, If I am old or young-rich or poorHow many times I need to go aroundI will catch the ring.
People stand along the sides and watch me as I pass them byThey are never riders- Yet they always doubt meBut I will catch the ring.
Some laugh- Some stare- Some gasp As I stand upon the saddle and prepareI will catch the ring.
People warn me to get downPeople say I will be harmedPeople never understand meBut I will catch the ring.
The ring does not need to be shinyIt does not need to bring me fame or fortuneWhen I catch it no one will cheerBut I will catch the ring.
Once within my fingers I can just hand it back in or pass part of me onto the next rider The ring I catch remains inside me.

The Second Ring: Determination
oPurpose oMotivationoSelf RelevanceoRelevance for Others
An internal drive independent of aggravating & mitigating factors
The Third Ring: Business Opportunity
o Supply & demand, o Output, inflation & unemployment,o Growth & capitalo Aggregate demand & supplyo Governmental fiscal policyo Competition & monopolyo Asymmetric informationo Cooperative & non-cooperative games,o Efficiency & regulation, o Productivity, wages, o Labor markets & unions,o Government spending & taxation,o International trade agreements, tariffs & quotas, o Recession & market failure
The event that provides change
The Third Ring: Personal Opportunity
Manipulation of economics variables Knowledge/skills Time to complete tasks Personal crises An opportunity can be either aggravating
or mitigating factor dependent upon the combination of these variables and their aggregate influence.
The event that provides change
The Fourth Ring: Resiliencyo Personal/Cultural
o Bench Strengtho Monetary & Other Resourceso Innovation (repackaging)
The ability to fall and
bounce back
Ability to solve problemsCritical thinking and abstraction; Collectivism (or group obligation)Flexibility (or an easygoing personality)Responsibility (or an internal locus of control) High self-esteem.
The Fifth Ring: Inspiration
o Meaningo Visiono Dreamso Aspirationso Passiono To step where no one has walked

The Uncontrolled Variables
o Inherent Intelligence/Talents/Skillso Health & Diseaseo History
o Personalo Collectiveo Cultural
o Crises, Chaos & Paradigm Shifts
Things businesses, researchers and teachers cannot change (unless they want to be arrested) but try to influence
The Missing RingTo learn - to teach, to be determined, to find opportunities in me and everywhere, to bounce back with resiliency and to inspire the world to work together collectively is Altruism
Where do the rings fit in and where do they lead? The rings are a means to identify
potential SB leaders and entrepreneurs who may be successful in the global marketplace.
They lead into new economic paradigms (such as the EU/Italy Project by Fabio Masso)
They lead into new economic and dynamic models such as I will describe in the next few slides
Nash’s Equilibrium Nash explored the outcomes of competition
in non-cooperative games and found that the probability of a winner lessened as the competitors eliminated each other and that the payoff would be greater if they worked collaboratively at the decision or point s of equilibrium.
In cooperative games, he noted that shared information was often used in a manner to create non-cooperation (e.g. business, politics)
In a truly cooperative game, the players all look for the best solution for everyone

Concept Polar Extremes
Examples of Issues
Trust Trust versus Rejection
Will I (you) give us want we need to be successful? Will I (you) be here when you (we/I) really need me (you)?
Will Autonomy versus Isolation
Do I (we) really need your help? I (We) will show you that you are not needed.
Purpose Identity versus Confusion
What is it that I (we) do? Why are we here? What business are we in?
Competence
Skills versus Omission
Do I (we) have the skills to do my (our) job(s) well, or am I (are we) missing something?
Proof Evidence versus Commission
I (we) have evidence of my skills and performance. If I (we) do not have these: Can I (we) get by without you noticing? Can I (we) hide what I (we) cannot do or should have done?
Passion Commitment versus Indifference
I (we) will argue and fight with you to get you to see my (our) point, or I (we) will just find someone else to work with other than you.
Share Transparency versus Deception
I am (We are) open to you exploring and questioning my (our) work and knowledge because I (we) wish for you to learn and share with me (us).
Altruistic Wisdom
“We versus Me”
I am (We are) more concerned about the good of all and the world than I am (we are) about my (our) own power, fame and fortune.

Interface of Game Theory &
Relational Dynamics
The last of humanity, sits atop a pile of all the gold and diamonds, clothed in platinum- frail and bony fingered, starving, breathing toxic gases. “The Winner” who fought their way to the top on the path of trampled masses, Or “The Loser” who consumed our greatest gift: each other and a world to share?
The rings of wealth & knowledge we accumulate do not have to be hoarded; With wisdom they can be shared with the rest of the universe.
