Textiles are embracing natural yarns as diverse as hemp, pure merino wool, banana v iscoseand linen. Tactile elements across cushions, throws and upholstery fabr ics are being pushedthrough tufted pompoms, bouclé weaves, raw edges of yarn, and surface detailing such asmacramé knots, chainstitch and appliqué embroidery, adding a handcrafted aesthetic.Colour palettes are kept to a bare minimum, modernising traditional woven patterns by usingundyed yarns with a modern and minimalist monochrome or tonal palette. Maharam's recentupholstery designs br ing a contemporary twist to organic textures with a hefty warp and weftin pure pressed linen, and work cellulosic fibres of linen, cotton and rayon with a smallamount of linen to add durability to the construction.

From bamboo screens and bonded-linen blackout blinds to light hemp and jutetransparencies, natural wovens are creating texture and warmth for window coverings.Bamboo blinds are enjoying a resurgence in popular ity, partly due to their eco credentia ls,while linen drapes in varying weights are left undyed for a naturalistic appearance. Strongbamboo combines with woven jute to create subtle contrasts of tactility and opacity.Fabrics lend a textured light and sense of pr ivacy for day and night to otherwise minimalistand stark inter ior spaces.
