Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince 37
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is the sixth fi lm based on J. K. Rowling’s Harry
Potter fi lm series. Its running time is 153 minutes. With scary images and violence, it is
rated PG (parental guidance). Children are advised to see the fi lm with their parents.
Although the fi lm is different from Rowling’s story, audiences seem to enjoy it. Like
the other five films, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince has magic. It also has
romance, which makes it more popular with young audiences. The boys and girls at
Hogwarts have grown into teenagers, and
have begun to get interested in each other.
Harry is more and more drawn to Ginny,
Ron’s younger sister, but so is Dean Thomas.
Hermione is in love with Ron, but she does
not show her feelings. She is jealous because
Lavender Brown thinks Ron is the one for her.
Audiences will see the power of magic. They
will also feel the power of love!

Your are participating in a school volunteer project and your teacher gave you this blog to read.
Read the blog entry and answer the questions.
Today I volunteered at a centre for orphans because
I wanted to find out what life is like for them.
The centre is for children who do not have parents.
They stay at the centre until they are adopted by a
new family. The youngest child is only two years
old! When I arrived at the centre, it was lunch time.
First, we gave meals to the younger children, then
to the older ones.
After lunch, we played at an outdoor playground in
the centre. Everything was fine until two children
started fighting. They were thrashing each other, it
was awful! A staff of the centre came to stop them
and took one of them away. I tried to calm the other
child with a toy bear. Fortunately, he smiled finally.
It was really an enjoyable day. I loved playing with
the kids and making them smile.

Reading
Practice 1
