KEY ACHIEVEMENTSBRAC Liberia is implementing six programmes: Microfinance, Agriculture, Food Security and Livelihood, Education, Health, Empowerment and Livelihoods for Adolescents (ELA), and Ultra-Poor Graduation in nine out of the fifteen counties. In 2018, the Liberian Ministry of Education adopted BRAC’s Early Childhood Development (ECD) model and continued the operation of the 30 schools previously run by BRAC. A report suggests that BRAC Liberia’s Agriculture, Food Security and Livelihood programme participants are 23.9% less likely to suffer from food insecurity, and their average monthly income increased by 36.8% after two years.
Due to its contribution towards the socioeconomic development of the country, BRAC Liberia was awarded a certificate of appreciation for Outstanding International NGO of the Year 2017 by the Society for the Promotion of Peace, National Reconciliation and Reunification. BRAC Liberia Microfinance Company Limited now accounts for 95% of Microfinance Institutions (MFI) branch network, and 90% of the country’s total MFI Loan Book, which makes it the largest one in Liberia.
