C7 Production Ends, Last 2019 Stingray to be Delivered at NCM

It’s the end of an era – Thursday, November 14 was the last day of

production for the C7 Corvette. The final car, a Z06, rolled off the end of the

assembly line at approximately 3:10pm. The car was purchased at Barrett

Jackson for $2.7 million by Dan Snyder.

But the 2nd to last car? That Corvette will call the National Corvette

Museum home. The car is the last Stingray to be built and was purchased

by Museum Lifetime Member and supporter Ivan Schrodt. Ivan took

delivery of the Corvette on Wednesday, November 20 at 2pm CT, and he

then handed the keys over to the Museum in a ceremony on Corvette

Boulevard. The public was invited to participate in the festivities.

(Note: Ivan Schrodt was a former member of KMCC and lives in Sherwood, Wi.)

KMCC DOOR COUNTY WEEKEND

Early on Friday, October 25th, a group of 26 Corvettes gathered at the Farm

Wisconsin Discovery Center in Newton, WI. for an excellent breakfast with Ms.

Alice in Dairyland, Abigail Martin. Following breakfast, she gave the group a

short explanation of her duties as Alice in Dairyland and some pertinent things

about Wisconsin agriculture.

From there it was on to Sturgeon Bay and the Maritime Museum. Everyone

toured the museum with a few opting for an additional tour of the tug boat,

John Purves, which is docked near the museum. After a quick lunch, the group

split into two groups, one headed to the winery and the other headed to Wood

Orchard Market in Egg Harbor. Plenty of things to sample and purchase. Next

was the final trip for the first day, ending up at the Pine Grove Resort in

Ephraim, WI. our destination for the weekend.

KMCC DOOR COUNTY WEEKEND - continued

While Friday was very sunny, Saturday was more of the same. The fall colors

in Door County may have been a few days past peak; however, they were still

very beautiful. The groups again split into two and headed out to various

points North and South of Ephraim. Some for shopping, some to check out the

Wisconsin vs. Ohio State game, and some just to enjoy the scenery. Everyone

ended back at the resort before many of the group went to enjoy the fish boil

dinner at the Old Post Office in downtown Ephraim.

Here’s a picture of the Randy and Carol Entringer group at the Peninsula Park

Golf Course.

KMCC DOOR COUNTY WEEKEND - continued

Sunday morning began with a little serious leaf removal. Seems like the rain

overnight did a number on the Corvettes parked under trees.

A special “THANK YOU” goes out to Jon Zoran and Mary Lou Haen and Randy

and Carol Entringer. Their extraordinary effort made the weekend a success!

FROM THE EDITOR:

By David Modra

Here's a little fact for automotive buffs, or just to dazzle your friends (or not).

The four Goldberg brothers, Lowell, Norman, Hiram, and Max, invented and

developed the first automobile air-conditioner. On July 17, 1946 , the temperature in

Detroit was 97 degrees.

The four brothers, walked into old man Henry Ford's office and sweet-talked his

secretary into telling him that four gentlemen were there with the most exciting

innovation in the auto industry since the electric starter. Henry was curious and

invited them into his office

They refused and instead asked that he come out to the parking lot to their car. They

persuaded him to get into the car, which was about 130 degrees, turned on the air

conditioner, and cooled the car off immediately.

The old man got very excited and invited them back to the office, where he offered

them $3 million for the patent. The brothers refused, saying they would settle for $2

million, but they wanted the recognition by having a label, 'The Goldberg Air-

Conditioner,' on the dashboard of each car in which it was installed.

Now old man Ford was more than just a little self-centered, and there was no way he

was going to put the Goldberg's name on two million Fords. They haggled back and

forth for about two hours and finally agreed on $4 million and that just their first

names would be shown.

And so to this day, all Ford air conditioners show --

Lo, Norm, Hi, and Max -- on the controls.
