The Academic Council at its meeting held on 29-11-2011 has approved the amendment to the Regulations relatingto eligibility, subject combination and mode of ranking for admission to various under graduate courses along with therecommendation of the Standing Committee, the report on the action taken by the Vice-Chancellor in having approvedthe recommendations of the Board of Studies in Arabic (Pass) as endorsed by the Dean, Faculty of Oriental Studies.

Amendment No. 1

“That, in the Regulations relating to Eligibility, subject combination and mode of ranking for admission to various undergraduate courses, the following be deleted from Item No. 5 Arabic in the column ‘Eligibility for Admission’ underclause 7-B.A. Degree Course under the Faculty of Oriental Studies.”

The above amendments to the Regulations relating to eligibility, subject combination and mode of ranking foradmission to various under graduate courses were laid before the Senate at its meeting held on 7th August, 2012 and theHouse considered and adopted the amendments to the Regulations as envisaged under Section 39(1) of the KeralaUniversity Act, 1974.

AMENDMENT TO THE REGULATIONS RELATING TO THE QUALIFICATIONS OF TEACHERS

The Academic Council at its meeting held on 7th May 2012 has approved the following amendment to theRegulations Relating to the Qualifications of Teachers.

Amendment No. 149

“That, in the Regulations relating to Qualifications of Teachers Part IV-Teachers of Professional Colleges,Clause 3-Teachers in Engineering Colleges, the following be added as Sub clause 3 (a)-Teachers in Architecture/PlanningDiscipline after note 2.”

3 (a) Teachers in Architecture/Planning Disciplines

1. Lecturer

First Class Bachelors Degree in the appropriate branch of Architecture/Planning

OR

First Class Masters Degree in the appropriate branch of Architecture/Planning.

2. Assistant Professor

(i) First Class Masters Degree in the appropriate branch of Architecture/Planning

(ii) Five (5) years experience in Teaching/Industry/Research at the level of Lecturer or equivalent.

Note:—Limited protection to those Teachers who have entered service upto the year 2010 for promotion as AssistantProfessors of Architecture without insisting upon Ph.D. Degree.

3. Professor

(i) Masters Degree or equivalent qualification in the appropriate branch of Architecture/Planning

(ii) Ph.D. Degree in an appropriate branch of Architecture/Planning.In lieu of Ph.D. Degree published works in referred Journals equivalent to Ph.D. may be accepted.

(iii) Ten (10) years experience in Teaching/Industry/Research out of which Five (5) years must be at the levelof Assistant Professor or equivalent.

The above amendment to the Regulations was laid before the Senate at its meeting held on 7th August, 2012 asenvisaged under Section 39(1) of the Kerala University Act, 1974.

AMENDMENT TO THE REGULATIONS RELATING TO THE B.A/B.Sc./B.Com. DEGREE COURSE(UNDER THE ANNUAL EXAMINATION SCHEME)-PERMISSION TO B.Com. DEGREE

HOLDERS TO TAKE ADDITIONAL DEGREE IN B.A/B.Sc. DEGREE COURSES

The Academic Council at its meeting held on 7th May, 2012 has approved the amendment to the Regulationsrelating to B.A/B.Sc./B.Com. Degree Examinations under Annual Examination Scheme.

Amendment

“That, in the Regulations relating to B.A/B.Sc./B.Com. Degree Examination (Under the Annual ExaminationScheme) under the clause Faculty of Commerce-Bachelor of Commerce Degree Examination, the following be added assub clause 11 (a) after the sub clause 11.

11(a). “A candidate who has passed B.Com. Degree Examination or who has been presented for I, II or III yearB.Com. will be permitted to join the B.A.or B.Sc. Degree Course as a regular student or B.A. Degree Course by PrivateRegistration or by correspondence course provided he has the requisite qualifications to join the B.A/B.Sc. DegreeCourse. He shall undergo the prescribed course of study for the B.A/B.Sc. for not less than 3 years and take the I yearexamination at the end of the I year, II year examination at the end of the II year and the III year examination at the endof the III year”.

The above amendment to the Regulations relating to the B.A/B.Sc./B.Com. Degree course under the AnnualExamination Scheme was laid before the senate at its meeting held on 7th August, 2012 and the House considered andadopted the amendment to the Regulations as envisaged under section 39(1) of the Kerala University Act, 1974.

AMENDMENT TO THE REGULATIONS RELATING TO THE POST GRADUATE DIPLOMA INKNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT (PGDKM) w.e.f. 2011 ADMISSIONS

The Academic Council at its meeting held on 7th May, 2012 has approved the amendment to the Regulationsrelating to the Post Graduate Diploma in Knowledge Management (PGDKM) w.e.f. 2011 Admissions, as recommendedby the Board of Studies in Futures Studies and as endorsed by the Faculty of Applied Sciences and Technology.

Amendment

“That, in the Regulations relating to Post Graduate Diploma in Knowledge Management, under sub clauseEligibility for Admission be substituted to read as follows.

Eligibility for Admission

Graduates in Engineering/Technology, Medicine, Post Graduates in Science and Applied Sciences, M.Sc.Agriculture, Master of Library and Information Science (MLISc), Post Graduation in Ayurveda, M.Com., MBA, LL.M andPost Graduation in Tourism with not less than 55% (Fifty Five Percentage) marks for the qualifying examination.

The above amendment to the Regulations relating to the Post Graduate Diploma in Knowledge Management(PGDKM) w.e.f. 2011 Admissions was laid before the Senate at its meeting held on 7th August, 2012 and the Houseconsidered and adopted the above amendment to the Regulations as envisaged under section 39(1) of the KeralaUniversity Act, 1974.

AMENDMENT TO THE REGULATIONS RELATING TO M.Phil. DEGREE COURSESIN NANOSCIENCE AND NANOTECHNOLOGY (2007 ADMISSIONS)

The Academic Council at its meeting held on 7th May, 2012 has approved the amendment to the Regulationsrelating to M.Phil. Degree Programme in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (2007 Admissions) as recommended by theBoard of Studies in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology and as endorsed by the Faculty of Applied Sciences andTechnology.


Amendment

“That, in the Regulations relating to M.Phil Degree Programme in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (2007Admissions) under clause I, Eligibility be substituted to read as follows.

The qualification for admission to the M.Phil Degree Course in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology shall be aSecond Class Masters Degree in Nanoscience/Nanotechnology/Nanoscience and Nanotechnology/Nanoscience andTechnology, Physics, Chemistry, Material Science or Photonics of this University or a Masters Degree in one of theabove subjects from any other University recognized by this University, with not less than 55% marks subject to therules of relaxation for SC/ST candidates”.

The above amendment to the Regulations relating to M.Phil Degree Programme in Nanoscience andNanotechnology (2007 Admissions) was laid before the senate at its meeting held on 7th August, 2012 and the Houseconsidered and adopted the amendment to the Regulations as envisaged under section 39(1) of the Kerala UniversityAct, 1974.

AMENDMENT TO THE REGULATIONS RELATING TO THE M.PHILDEGREE COURSE IN NANOBIOLOGY (2009-2010)

The Academic Council at its meeting held on 7th May, 2012 has approved the amendment to the Regulationsrelating to the M.Phil Degree Course in Nanobiology (2009-2010) as recommended by the Board of Studies inNanoscience and Nanotechnology and as endorsed by the Faculty of Applied Sciences and Technology.

Amendment

“That, in the Regulations relating to M.Phil Degree Programme in Nanobiology, under Clause -2-Eligibility be substitutedto read as follows”.

“The qualification for admission to the M.Phil Degree Course in Nanobiology shall be a second class MastersDegree in Nanoscience/Nanotechnology/Nanoscience and Nanotechnology/Nanoscience and Technology with BiologicalScience background at the Bachelors level, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Botany, Zoology, Microbiology or aPost -Graduate Degree in Medicine, Pharmacology, Veterinary Science or Dentistry of this University or a MastersDegree in the above subjects from any other University recognized by this University, with not less than 55% markssubject to the rules of relaxation for SC/ST candidates.”

The above amendment to the Regulations relating to the M.Phil Degree Course in Nanobiology (2009-2010) waslaid before the Senate at its meeting held on 7th August, 2012 and the House considered and adopted the amendment tothe Regulations as envisaged under section 39(1) of the Kerala University Act, 1974.

AMENDMENT TO THE REGULATIONS RELATING TO QUALIFICATIONS OF TEACHERS

The Academic Council at its meeting held on 7th May, 2012 has approved the following amendment to theRegulations relating to Qualifications of Teachers.

Amendment No. 150

“That, in the Regulations relating to Qualifications of Teachers, the following be added as clause 11 after ‘10’-‘Lecturers/Assistant Professors in Video Production at Degree Level’, in Part -III ‘Teachers of Non-professionalColleges’ affiliated to the University”.

11. Assistant Professors in Industrial Microbiology.

The qualifications for appointment to the Post of Assistant Professor in Industrial Microbiology as 55% (FiftyFive Percentage) marks for M.Sc. Degree in Microbiology/Industrial Microbiology with NET qualification.

Amendment No. 151

“That, in the Regulations relating to Qualifications of Teachers, the following be added as clause ‘12’ after ‘11' -Assistant Professors in Industrial Microbiology’ in Part-III ‘Teachers of Non-professional Colleges’ affiliated to theUniversity”.


12. Assistant Professors in Mass Communication.

The qualifications for appointment to the Post of Assistant Professor in Mass Communication as 55% marks forMasters Degree in Communication/Mass Communication/ Journalism and Pass in NET (National Eligibility Test) inCommunication/Mass Communication/Journalism conducted by the UGC.

The above amendments to the Regulations relating to Qualifications of Teachers were laid before the Senate at itsmeeting held on 7th August, 2012 as envisaged under section 39(1) of the Kerala University Act, 1974.

AMENDMENT TO THE KERALA UNIVERSITY FIRST ORDINANCES, 1978

In exercise of the powers conferred on the Syndicate by virtue of section 36 of the Kerala University Act, 1974,the Syndicate at its meeting held on 29-3-2012 has made the following amendment to Kerala University FirstOrdinances, 1978.

Amendment No. 228

“That, in the Kerala University First Ordinances, 1978, Chapter IV-Levy of fees by the University, undersub-heading ‘D-other Fees’ the following be added as Sub Clause 23. A. VIII after Sub clause 23.A.VII.

23.A.VIII-Fee for Percentage Certificate for B.Tech. Degree Examination—` 500.

The above amendment to the Kerala University First Ordinances, 1978 was considered and adopted by the Senateat its meeting held on 7th August, 2012 as envisaged under section 37(1) of the Kerala University Act, 1974.

In exercise of the powers conferred on the Syndicate by virtue of section 36 of the Kerala University Act, 1974,the Syndicate at its meeting held on 14-5-2012 has made the following amendment to the Kerala University FirstOrdinances, 1978.

“That, in Chapter XVII of the Kerala University First Ordinances, 1978, Schedule 150-Data Entry Operator, underQualification General (5) and Technical (6) be substituted to read as follows.

“That, in Chapter 20 - Faculty of Engineering and Technology, the following be inserted after 5B as 5C, 5D and 5E.

5C - Degree of Master of Technology in Futures Studies:- Candidates for the Degree of Master of Technology inFutures Studies (M.Tech. in Futures Studies) shall be required to have passed the B.Tech. Degree Examination (Anybranch) with 55% marks of this University or any other examination with 55% marks recognized by the University asequivalent thereto. The candidates shall also be required to have passed the GATE Examination with not less than 70%score or have passed in CSIR/UGC test or to have passed the Departmental Entrance test and interview and to havesubsequently undergone the prescribed course of study for a period of not less than 18 months consisting of 3Semesters (each Semester shall consist of 15 to 20 weeks) in an Institution maintained by or affiliated to this Universityand to have passed the prescribed examinations.

The qualification for admission and the Scheme and Syllabus of the Examination shall be as prescribed in theRegulations.

*5D Degree of Master of Technology in Computer Science (M.Tech. Computer Science).

Candidates for the Degree of Master of Technology in Computer Science (M.Tech. in Computer Science) shall berequired to have taken a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Technology with atleast 55% marks in one of the followingbranches: Computer Science and Engineering/Electronics Engineering/Electrical Engineering from the University ofKerala or equivalent of a recognized University.

OR

First Class Master’s Degree in Computer Science/Computer Application from the University of Kerala orequivalent recognized by UGC/CSIR.

**5E. Degree of Master of Technology in Optoelectronics and Optical Communication (M.Tech. inOptoelectronics and Optical Communication):—
