INPUTS FOR THE NEW CURRICULUM UNDER KCF 2007

• Kerala has long heritage of educational reforms initiated by various

social movements

• We have been carrying out a variety of quality initiatives under

DPEP and later SSA for the last one decade

• We had derived much insight through our field experience

involving new textbook and teacher support material in tune with

the emerging paradigm and trying out them at various levels

CRITICAL PEDAGOGY• Assumption of cr itical pedagogy• All education is inherently political and all pedagogy must be

aware of this condition• Ground and eucational vision of justice and equality should

ground all education.• issues, of race, class, gender, sexuality, religion, and physical

ability are all important domains of oppression and critical and anti hegemonic action

• Schools must not blame the students for their failures

• Using issues in the class room allows teacher to foster the students skills of critical analysis and life long learning that they need to deal with the changing nature of science in society. our social life consist of physical, social and cultural spheres. each of thee spheres has numerous problems. All these issues have a general bearing on all spheres of social life.
