Phase 1 – ESSAY-A student will write an essay to explain why the Army Values and physical fitness are important in everyday life. A student will make contact with a soldier or Guardsman in his/her community or do other individual research to produce the essay to include the core Army values. Phase 2 – SOLUTION-Students completing Phase 1 well, will be emailed a prompt by April 13, 2011. Students will study WIN-T/CPN (satellite system) and prepare of a model, diagram, or other display to solve a problem.The prompt will include a set of criteria that mimic what a signal soldier may need to know to connect generic equipment and find a solution to the problem given.

Phase 3 – SET-UP-Based on the scoring results from Phases 1 & 2, the top scoring student names will be posted as finalists. The finalists will employ the WIN-T/CPN system on site May 13 gaining points for the employment of the system and interview.

RUBRIC: SHOWCASE PROJECT INFORMATION(Page 1 of 3)From Fall Showcase to State ChampionshipTeamDEADLINE TO REGISTER: Oct. 15BEFORE SUBMITTING ONLINE- CHECKLIST FOR STLP USE Teams of students create a project that help the classroom, school or local or global community.Schools decide the best projects to bring to fall showcase, which can lead to a state invitation.

The team has registered online for this category. STLP students design and carry out projects that directly impact a classroom, school or community Schools may register more than one project The student is given this rubric to guide them in their work Coordinators guide the students. Coordinators register the project type and title online prior to the

event. Schools are assigned a table number, a time for judging via an email from the listserv Create a snappy nametag for each student and adult attending (includes judges & chaperones) All technology equipment, cords, cables and saved downloaded sites should be brought to showcase. Schools check in and set up at the site. Schools should find the tables in a numbered sequence. A sheet hanging on the table will guide the

school to the Table Number location. Each school should display at the table: Title, school and district name, project planner with

purpose/outcome and the STLP logo. Project materials must stay within the 6-8 foot table size and the row that all tables are lined up on the

floor. At the fall showcase, projects will compete and be judged with other schools within the regional area Take an image of the students and the booth when it is all set up. The photo will be needed for state. Schools receiving scores of 100 or higher will be invited to state championship At the state event, the project will compete with other projects from across the state At state, the project will be judged several times, until the top three in the state are selected One to four (1-4) students1 per team per project is suggested No materials or objects (rubrics, brochures or folders) should be given to the judges. During judging, the 1-4 students should be at the table for the judges to interview. NO school or anyone is to video, record or take still pictures of the judges at any table during official

judging. Adults step aside and are to offer no help (verbal or hand signals) to the students during judging.
