Dr B R Ambedkar, popular- ly known as Babasaheb Ambedkar, was one of the architects of the Indian Constitution. Bheem Rao Ambedkar was born on 14th April 1891 in a poor Mahar family. He was a well-known politician and an eminent jurist. . Over- coming numerous social and financial obstacles, Ambedkar became one of the first outcastes to ob- tain a college education in India. Eventually earning law degrees and multiple doctorates for his study and research in law, eco- nomics and political sci- ence from Columbia Uni- versity and the London School of Economics. Ambedkar's efforts to eradicate the social evils like untouchablity and caste restrictions were remarkable. The leader, throughout his life, fought for the rights of the dalits and other socially back- ward classes. Bhimrao Ambedkar was appointed as the chairman of the con- stitution drafting commit- tee .Ambedkar was the nation's first Law Minister in the Cabinet of Jawahar- lal Nehru. Died on 6 th December 1956. Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s life is an exam- ple to others. He had shown how men born in humble surroundings could rise up in life, by sheer hard-work, sincerity and steadfastness.
