SITUATIONKenbank House is situated in an exceptionally beautiful south facing position in one of the most scenic parts of the South West of Scotland.

The village of St Johns Town of Dalry has a village shop and post office, both primary and secondary schools, 24hr Garage with small supermarket and two hotels, including the very popular Clachan Inn. Whilst a broader range of services can be found in Castle Douglas and Dumfries. The mainline railway stations in both Dumfries and Lockerbie provide good links to the north and south whilst Ayr is about 32 miles to the northwest. Prestwick Airport, with its links to the rest of the U.K. and mainland Europe, is about 41 miles distance. Glasgow and Edinburgh Airports are also very accessible.

The South West of Scotland is renowned for its mild climate and long growing season which attracts gardeners from all over the country to this part of Scotland. The area also offers boundless sporting and outdoor activities including excellent salmon and sea trout fishing on many of the local rivers as well as trout fishing on the numerous lochs in the area. There is a nine hole golf course at nearby New Galloway whilst the championship courses of the West Coast such as Troon and Turnberry are within driving distance on the Ayrshire coast. Loch Ken is a well known centre for sailing and other water sports. There are numerous walks in the area, including The Galloway Forest Park which is known for its beauty and tranquillity and is also recognised as

Britain’s First Dark Sky Park, which provides astronomers phenomenal views of the stars. The nearby town of Castle Douglas is known as Scotland’s Food Town and has many local individual shops. A few miles further The Artists’ Town of Kirkcudbright draws large numbers of visitors to the area throughout the year and has a wide range of galleries and exhibitions as well as events which are part of the annual Summer Festivities.

DESCRIPTION The original part of Kenbank House dates from 1740 and additions and alteration have been made over the intervening centuries. The house has been tastefully modernised but the original character has been retained. The principal rooms all face south with astounding views over the surrounding farmland. Kenbank House is situated in an exceptionally beautiful south facing position in one of the most scenic parts of the South West of Scotland. The gentle rolling countryside and the Lochs of the Glenkens provide a sharp contrast to the Rhins of Kells which lie to the west. The windows are either uPVC sealed double glazed sash and case style or timber sash and case double glazed with a number of single glazed units some with secondary units fitted. GARDEN The gardens and grounds surrounding the house are mature and contain many fine trees including beech, lime and horse-chestnut. To the south and west of the house are formal lawns interspersed with flower beds and shrubberies which have been arranged with ease of maintenance in mind. The lawn area is neighboured by a large Copper Beech hedge. The daffodils, crocuses and flowering rhododendrons provide a mass of colour in Spring/summer. There are formal lawns providing space for entertaining. Raised vegetable beds and walk in metal fruit cage which includes a range of soft fruits, ideal for the enthusiastic horticulturist or cook.

The house is approached by a private gravel drive with granite posts at the entrance with the drive lined to one side with mature lime trees. The drive leads to the front and side of the house where there is parking for several cars with a gravelled turning area to the front.
