Kärsämäki Church DeconstructionWinter 2013
Kärsämäki Church Deconstruction
The Kärsämäki church lies on the banks of the Pyhäjoki River in Kärsämäki, Finland. The original church that stood in the place of the current Kärsämäki church was demolished in 1841. It was decided that the new church would instead be constructed as a mod-ern structure using 18th century methods as a way to blend the old and new. The architect for this structure is Anssi Lassila. The church was completed in 2004.The purpose of this project was to reconstruct hand drawings, documents and construction methods using exclusively photo representation from our case study.
