Coaches Corner
Welcome to Ian and everyone from Quinns - I hope you enjoy our
hospitality up here in the hills.
Today’s game has all the potentials hanging above it; just which one
will play out and be determined in the 90mins. I’m sure we all have
our speculations as players, coaches and spectators hence the reason
it promises to be a spectacle. Over the last couple of weeks we have
started to show some consistency, and this is what we’ll be working
towards in today’s game - focussing on the things within our control.
It’s great to play a benchmark team under the guidance of a
renounced coach in Ian. However, it will be about our performance
today and working towards a positive result. Our attitude and mindset
will orchestrate our game plan to success.
All the best to Issi and the 18’s and Richie with the ressies and
hopefully the consistency is maintained. May the games be played in
the right spirit and join us in the clubhouse after for a chat and a
drink.

FOOTBALL FACTS
1. Arthur Wharton is considered the first black professional footballer in the world.
2. Bena Tshadi were drawing 1-1 with visitors Basanga in the
Democratic Republic of Conga, when lightning struck, and killed
an entire football team.
3. Bryce Brites, a 20-month-old baby, is the world’s youngest professional football player. He ‘signed’ with Belgian club, FC Racing Boxberg. The club says, ‘no one dribbles like Bryce’ (I’m not joking – this is true), and that ‘Bryce does things with the ball no one else can’. But, he misses out on being the youngest ever professional by 2 months. That record belongs to Dutch footballer, Baerke van der Meij, who ‘signed’ a 10 year deal with VVV-Venlo when he was 18-months-old…he can’t even write his name…how did they ‘sign’ the contracts?
4. Greenland cannot join FIFA because not enough grass grows for a
football field.
5. Dino Zoff (Italian goalkeeper) is the oldest player to win the world cup – he was 40 years old, and very brilliant.
6. The first league competition was founded in 1888. The 1888-89 season consisted of these teams: Accrington, Aston Villa, Blackburn Rovers, Burnley, Derby County, Everton, Notts County, Preston North End, Stoke, West Bromwich Albion, and Wolverhampton Wanderers. Preston North End won the league, the bottom 4, Stoke, Burnley, Derby County and Notts County were all re-elected at the AGM, and reinstated for the 1889-90 season.
