KEEP TOTTENHAM TIDY

Be a friend to Bruce Castle ParkA new group of local residents has been formed to help improve and maintain Bruce Castle Park. Friends of Bruce Castle Park will be working alongside the Friends of Bruce Castle and one of the key aims of the group is to keep the park clean and tidy.

If you would like to help, the litter picks will take place on the first Sunday of every month starting at the park’s Pavilion at 2pm. The next pick is on Sunday, 6 November 2016.

Stellar House starsResidents of Stellar House, Altair Close and the Lindales who make up the SALB RA, along with Keep Moat and Cllr John Bevan recently carried out a community clean up of a residential space in Altair close. The space had been under used for years and was run down and over grown.

To celebrate all their hard work in bringing this space back into use they arranged a community fun day attended by more than 130 residents.

If you would like to join the SALB RA contact Chanelle Farrell on [email protected] or call 075 8083 3939.

Bin your litter and help a local charityA new initiative has launched to encourage residents to bin their litter rather than dropping it on the streets – and raise money for good causes at the same time.

On bins around Tottenham you’ll see stickers which say; ‘Bin your litter and help a charity’. The more litter that goes into bins marked with stickers, the larger the sum that will be donated to three local charities; Don’t Forget the Kids, BUBIC and Friends of Tottenham Marshes.

Haringey Council measured levels of litter in bins and on the streets in Tottenham before the campaign was launched and will compare this to levels of rubbish collected over the next three months. Make sure you bin your litter and help a local charity!

New £400 fines for fly-tippingFly-tipping fines have been raised from £80 to £400 in the fight back against the anti-social environmental crime blighting the borough’s streets.

Increasing the Fixed Penalty Notice for fly-tipping to £400 with no early payment option reflects the severity of the offence of dumping unwanted waste in neighbourhoods. Fly-tipping costs Haringey taxpayers £3 million a year and affects all resident’s quality of life.

If you want to report a case of fly-tipping it can be done through My Account, the Our Haringey App or call 020 8489 1000. Full information can be found at www.haringey.gov.uk/report-it
