Eligibility This program is available to students with a variety of undergraduate backgrounds. A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, with a major in any area other than information systems, is acceptable. Coursework Candidates for this certificate must successfully complete a minimum of 24 credits in coursework. Students must earn at least 18 credits at Wayne State University. To receive the certificate, an overall minimum 2.5 grade point average must be maintained with a grade of C or better in each course.

ONLINEAll coursework toward the post-baccalaureate certificate in information systems management can be completed online in as little as two terms. Students who complete all requirements online are eligible for in-state tuition rates.

Students in the program also have access to the technology and advising resources available to all WSU students at our main campus in Midtown Detroit and at the WSU extension centers.

STARTING YOUR CAREERCareer growth in the information systems field is expected to be robust as organizations seek professionals with technical training. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (bls.gov), demand for computer systems analysts is expected to grow 23 percent between 2012 and 2022, while for computer user support specialists, projections are at 19 percent for the same period. IMPORTANT INFORMATION If you graduated with a degree from Wayne State University, you will need to contact the Office of the Registrar to change your status to post-bachelor.

If you’ve received an undergraduate degree from another institution, then you must complete the Application for Undergraduate Admission form and a request that official transcripts be sent directly to the university’s Office of Admissions.

The Office of Undergraduate Student Services in the Mike Ilitch School of Business is responsible for credential evaluation, advising and certification for post-bachelor students. Advisors in the Office of Undergraduate Student Services issue an academic plan to post-bachelor students upon their admission to the program. The academic plan outlines the requirements for completing the post-bachelor program.
