You may have noticed some new colour aroundKCC! With the exciting news around the new Main Campus, we’ve introduced a new brandidentity and colourwayfor the College.Keep an eye out fornew signs, the updatedwebsite and new materials in the greenand slate colours.

National ApprenticeshipWeek was 14th - 18th March,and our Employer Services team got involved with a variety of events. They attended the LEP’s Investing in Skills for Growth event at the Liverpool Crowne Plaza, providing information to local employers, as well as attending an event at Liverpool One tohighlight the benefits ofapprenticeships to learnersand employers, showing o�our brand new virtual realitywelding equipment in theprocess.

WE’RE IN THE TOP 3FOR LEVEL 3Knowsley Community College has recently beenranked in the top 3 Merseyside Colleges for Level 3 achievement, following a report published by the Department for Education. Gill Banks, Deputy Principal at the College, said: “I am delighted with the improvements in achievement and especially proud that the average grade for our students has moved from a merit to now a distinction grade.”

“This achievement opens up even more opportunities for students from KCCto progress to highereducation, employment or furthertraining and theimprovements recognises the great work of both sta� and students.”

Former British Hairdresser of the Year, Lee Sta�ord, is bringing his Education Academyto Knowsley. The nationally acclaimed programme, which teaches students standardised ‘recipes’ for creating innovative styles, will be delivered by Knowsley Community College and based at their new campus.

The celebrity hairdresser, known for his award-winning salons, hair product range and TV appearances, created the education arm of his business a year after being voted the UK’s most influential hairdresser in 2011.

Lee explained; “The Lee Sta�ord Education model creates the most inspired hairdressing teachers in the country to enable students to excel in their learning.” “Enables students to excel in

their learning, imagination and ultimately employment”

NEW CAMPUSUPDATEConstruction is continuing at the site of our new Main Campus onStockbridge Lane, with excitingprogress being made.

Interior fit out of both the former school building and the new annexeis now underway - with facilities beinginstalled to include a new restaurant, studios for KCC Live, a new LearnerServices area, sensory rooms for Supported Learning and much more.

The Campus is set to open in September, and sta� and studentvisits are now being organised for a ‘behind the scenes’ look at progress.

Supported Learning have been as busy as ever! As well as being excited about theirdedicated specialised floor in our new MainCampus, they’ve taken part in a variety of events - from Wheels for All, to WorldDown Syndrome Day and Earth Day. Here’s a selection of photos from some of the amazing activities they’ve had fun with.

A BUSYFIRST TERMFORPERFORMINGARTSOur Performing Arts department havebeen busy with a variety of performances and workshops over the past few months.

Working with Sir Derek Jacobi, legendary choreographer and Gladiator actor, students took part in a performance at Liverpool Anglican Cathedral.

The performance, which celebrated Indian folklore and aimed to unite cultures and faiths in times of adversity, was partof a touring programme produced by Barrie Osborne, who is most famous forproducing the Lord of the Rings films.

In addition, learners have enjoyed anexclusive workshop from former KCCstudent and star of the hit musical, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, AdamLyons.

After going to see the show at the Empire Theatre, students then got the chance to learn how it was done, alongside Adam and West End Director, Craig Ryder - learning the choreography to the famous ‘Go West’ and rehearsing script from the show to practice audition preparation.
