Brief Report of the Webinar entitled “Revised NAAC Assessment and
Accreditation Process for Higher Education Institutions” organized on 17th
July, 2020.
With the generous encouragement and support from the NAAC, Bengaluru, the Internal
Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Kavayitri Bahinabai Chaudhari North Maharashtra
University, Jalgaon (M.S.) has organized a WEBINAR on “Revised NAAC Assessment and
Accreditation Process for Higher Education Institutions” on 17th July, 2020 at 11.00 a.m. to
04.00 p.m. In all 400 participants registered for the Webinar. Out of them 130 participants
comprising of principals and IQAC coordinators of affiliated colleges actually participated in the
webinar. The event started with the preface and welcome address of Prof V L Maheshwari followed
by opening remarks of Honorable Vice Chancellor .Prof. P. P. Patil, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor and
Patron of the Webinar, Kavayitri Bahinabai Chaudhari, North Maharashtra University,
Jalgaon. Then, he has extended his warm welcome to the participants and resource persons of the
Webinar. The Webinar is conducted in two sessons i.e. morning and afternoon sessions.
The following renowned resource persons has delivered lectures followed by open session
and helped to success this Webinar. (The schedule of the workshop is attached herewith for your
favour of information).

Dr. Leena G. Gahane, Dy. Advisor, NAAC and Chief Guest of the Webinar gave a detailed
presentation on NAAC’s Assessment and Accreditation process and IIQA. In the initial part of her
session she briefed about the genesis of NAAC, Data Facts of Higher Education (AISHE),
Assessment of an institution is based on the units of certain established criterias. The NAAC
certification is valid for fixed periods i.e. for 5 years. NAAC works with vision, periodic assessment
and accreditationof HEIs which stimulate the academic environment for the promotion of quality of
teaching-learching and research. The NAAC encourage self-evaluation, accountability, autonomy
and innovation. Indicate quality and related research studies, consultancy and training programmes,
collaboration with other stakeholders. NAAC works with 5 core values i.e. (i) contribution of
national development, (ii) fosgtering capable competancies among the students including value
system among the students, permitting use of technology and quest for excellence, (iii) focus on
assessment, (iv) quality culture of the institute and (v) quality initiatives, quality sustenance, quality
enhancement etc. She has mentioned some highlights of Current A & A Process, Data Driven A & A

Framework, Online Students Satisfication Survey, Systematic generated score system, selection of
logistics, validity of data by extended external agency, total certification fill visitdate. She has
emphasized on the criterion prescribed by NAAC accreditation is so objective, holistic and
comprehensive calling for sufficient focus on each and every aspect so as to meet the current
requirements and global standards in the field of higher education. He appealed to the entire faculty,
non-teaching staff, students and other stakeholders to work collectively to showcase University’s
positive aspects in order to fulfil NAAC requirements with a hope to bag a promising grade in the
ensuing cycle. She has also given information on Pre-Qualifier i.e. 25 % (DVV + SSS), System
generated score (Online evaluation of SSR) i.e. 70%. Process of NAAC Peer Team judgement i.e.
30%. Details of steps involved in the process, time-line in various steps, quality indicator framework,
distribution of matrices i.e. 36 Qlm and 50 QnM. She has mentioned the benefits of accreditation of
the HEIs. Accreditation/grade outcome into policy planning.
After this presentation, Dr. A.V. Prasad, Asstt. Advisor, NAAC, Bangluru has addressed in
Webinar along with power point presentation regarding process for preparation and submission of
Self Study Report (SSR). He has highlighted the various components involved in SSR and types of
questions asked in SSR with relevant examples, extended Profiles of the institutions, evaluation
process for assessement. He has further elaborated the importance of SOP, reading of manuals and
glossary for better understanding of the metrics i.e. Appedix-1 : Glosary and notes in detail teaching-
learning and evaluation. He said the document is only to show how you are methodical. Data
templets/Documents. Optional metrices, payment of fees, students’ detail for SSR. Value added and
ad-hoc courses, responsibility of Assessor, submission of systematic AQAR, Students-Teacher ratio,
Mentor-Mentee Programme etc.
Dr. N.R. Mohan, Asstt. Advisor, NAAC, Bangaluru has explained the process of Student
Satisfaction Survey (SSS), guidelines involved in SSS (i.e. atleast 50% of current annual students)
and efforts that can be made by the institution in reaching the desirable level. He has also discussed
in detail regarding Peer Team Visit, their logistics and accreditation outcome, data templeteon excel
sheets in portal, Random sampling, about questainnare, pre-qualifier, PT composition, duration and
addional details, preparation and finalization of the schedule of PT visit and day-to-day schedule,
Assessement Out-come of documents and institutional grades and accreditation status etc.
Dr. Ganesh Hegde, Advisor, NAAC, Bangaluru has explained about extended profile of the
instuttions in detail, Data requirement, Formula for calculation, Process of Data Verification and
Validation (DVV), read the line and matrics querry raised during the DVV. He stressed on the
importance of truthful submission of all the required data backed by supportive documentary
evidences. The policy needs to know the newly coined word i.e. Accreditation Taxonomy,
distribution of metrics and key indicators. He explained the 5 points of qualitatity metrics, Key
Indicators, Curriculum enrichment, Data Templete and suggested documents for verification. The
University should be given proper date for accredition process i.e. 1st April to 31st March of every
year. He explained the old and new ways of accreditation. The institution has to fill the gap between
student and teacehrs. He has cited the slogan of great Chanakya – “Koi Bhi Vyakti Apne Karmasehi
Bada Hota Hai”. He has explained about extended profile deviation i.e. positive and negative
deviation, no deviation, less deviation. He has also explained the important points to be noted i.e. (i)
File should note be more tha 5 MB, (ii) Provide proper URG (s), (iii) Password protected file should
be avoided, google and similar drive should be avoided, no straight means of communication
between HEIs and DVV partners except response box provided against each metric where queries
are raised, Geotagged photographs, complete information of properties of all geotagged photos and
Refer SOP, English trnalated version of documents and pre-qualifier stage etc.

Dr. Preeti Agarwal, Director, G.H. Raisoni Institute of Information Technology, Jalgaon,
explained “Role of Assessors on site visit, what is accreditation, highlights of the new framework,
what is accreditation, the current focus on QA, Co-ordinators role, Time Management, Facilities
Visit Management, Report Preparation Management, Exit Meeting Management, Departmental visit,
facilities visit etc. Onsite visit and interactions. She said that the visit should be cherished and
initiating, synergic of change, samples to recived and score sheet etc.
The resource persons have actively guided to the participants and discussed thoroughly the
queries and problems raised by the Principals and IQAC Directors in the Open Discussion and
shared their experiences regarding importance of accreditation to the colleges/institutes and the
problems faced by the NAAC Steering Committee in the collection of data during the preparation of
Self Study Reports of the University. The Webinar was concluded with valedicatory function, ln the
concluding remarks Prof ST Ingle has made appeal to the non accredited colleges under the
University to proceed for NAAC accreditation in near future during the validictory function. Prof. P.
P. Mahulikar, Pro-Vice Chancellor, has delivered a precedential address in the validictory function.
This function was attended by Prof. B.V. Pawar, Registrar, Prof. V.L. Maheshwari, Chairman,
Steering Committee, Prof. S.T. Ingle, Director, IQAC, Prof. Sameer Narkhede, Dr. Manoj Patil and
Mr. Dawoodi Hussain, System Analyst, KBCNMU, Jalgaon.
