1. Start by placing the blocks #1a and #1b in front of each other

2. Insert the Central Column CC in the square hole at the centre of 1A and start placing blocks #2,#3,#4,#5 on top of each other

3. Next, place block number 6 as below and attach the wheels to the sides.

Now, insert the 4 blocks marked 7A, 7B, 7C, 7D in the gray rectangularholes marked in the picture below.

4. To this add the next 5 blocks namely #8,9,10,11,12

5. Take slab number 13 and insert the large and small windows in the slots provided. The 3 large windows go in the slots as illustrated by grey colour. The 8 small windows go in the slots as illustrated by blue colour. Once you are done with this step, start working on the pillars separately in the next two step.

6. There are four C3 blocks.Insert the thin pillars in all the square slots in the C3 blocks.That would be 12 pillars in total. Similarly there are three S3 blocks. Here, insert the remaining thin pillars in the outer slots and the wide pillars in the inner slots as depicted in the picture below.

7. Cover the free end of the pillar with the blocks S4, C4, T1 and T2 as mentioned below:

8. Coming back to the model, place the blocks 14A, two 14B's, 14C and the two 14D's onto the slots in the layer number 13 as shown in the picture

9. Stack the slabs C1/C2 and S1/S2 as shown in the picture below. Slabs C1/C2 should be placed in the corners as shown by the orange blocks below. The S1/S2 slabs should placed at the 3 sides as shown by the purple blocks below. The S1/S2 slabs are NOT placed on the side that has the 14A block. That part is the entrance to the chariot

10. The last step is to stack the pillar arrangements. Place the S3/S4 pillar arrangement on the three sides behind the large window. Place the two C3/C4 pillar arrangements on the rear corners of the chariot. Place the C3/T1 and C3/T2 arrangement at the front corners of the chariot. Place the slab 15 and 16 at the top of the model. Place the two elephants on 1B and the ladder leaning against the chariot between the elephants. CONGRATS! Your KATTU GAME is complete!

Did you know?? * The Stone Chariot is actually not a chariot but a shrine dedicated to Garuda (lord of eagles)

* The elephants were not a part of the structure. Originally two horses were carved in front which are missing now

* It is believed among the villagers that the world would come to an end when the chariot moves from its place

* The shrine was almost twice its height with a dome like superstructure built on top which does not exist today

* The stone chariot was built during the 16th century

* Hampi was the richest city in India during the rule of Vijayanagara empire. It is believed that precious stones were sold in heaps in the streets of the city

* Every year in November there is a 3 day Hampi festival to commemorate art, culture, dance and music

* The Vitthala temple at Hampi has 56 stone pillars that make distinct musical sounds when tapped

* Walk the streets of this UNESCO World Heritage site re-live the grand days of the Vijayanagara empire
