introduCtion
The Zambezi Region (formerly, Caprivi Region) where the Katima Mulilo Campus is situated, borders four countries (Zambia, Angola, Botswana and Zimbabwe), making this unique campus an ideal destination for the regional integration of its student populace.
The campus is a mere stone’s throw away from the mighty Zambezi River, Africa’s longest river, which flows into the Indian Ocean after a stretch of about 2,574 kilometres. Our students and lecturing staff alike, take advantage of weekend adventures to the Victoria Falls, or merely socialising on the banks of the Zambezi with its rich ecosystem, supported by a myriad spread of fauna and flora.
The Katima Mulilo Campus is one of 12 thriving
campuses of the University of Namibia. Situated in the
mighty Zambezi region, the campus currently offers two
Bachelor Degree programmes in Education, as well as a
Diploma in Junior Primary Education.
In order to complement the successful Community
Based Natural Resources Management reputation
of the Region in terms of wildlife and other natural
resources, apart from training teachers, the campus
also offers a four-year Bachelor of Science in Wildlife
Management and Ecotourism, as well as a three-year
Higher Diploma in Animal Health.
The Centre for Open, Distance and e-Learning (CODeL) offers a variety of courses on distance mode. Courses range from certificates to postgraduate studies. The minimum entry requirements for this mode of study are similar to those for degrees, diploma and certificates on a full-time basis.

Residences/Accommodation
The Campus provides a tranquil and safe environment
for those who choose to reside on campus. Our student
residences accommodate a maximum of two students
per room, giving students enough privacy for them to
concentrate on their studies.
The rooms come with standard fixtures, which include
beds, desk, chairs and curtains. Students however, share
recently renovated ablution facilities.
Student Counseling & Support Services
Counsellors within the Office of the Dean of Students
support students when they encounter problems in their
fields of study, or when they experience personal or health
related problems.
Meals on Campus
All student accommodation within the University of
Namibia system comes with a mandatory breakfast. This
is to ensure that all our students are served with a well-
balanced meal in order to help them concentrate and
do well in their studies. Catering facilities are available
during the course of the day and such facilities cater
to all students, including the great number of student
commuters.
Field Kitchens
In some of the student residence blocks, provision is made
for field kitchens, where students are allowed to cook
(self-cater) for themselves. Field kitchens are equipped
with a stove, a microwave and refrigerators.
Sporting Facilities
The Katima Mulilo Campus has a medium sized gym for
students and staff on campus, a soccer pitch, tennis and
netball courts. The Main Hall also serves as a multi-purpose

The library has a collection of +-10 000 books, e-journals and also houses an audio-visual room with video conference facilities.
