Pre-season sales increased during our “early bird sales month” by nearly 300% and ticket purchases at our recent OAC Open House were off the charts. Thank you for your patronage. Future sales look great for many events, and there are still terrific seats available at many shows. However, if you are still thinking about attending you should know that return events such as the Nutcracker Ballet, Cabaret Café Series and Comedy Sportz, were sold out last year for most dates and tickets were gone early. MICHAEL’ S CORNER

Our 2012/13 season is off to a great start! Pre-season sales increased

during our “early bird sales month” by nearly 300% and ticket

purchases at our recent OAC Open House were off the charts. Thank

you for your patronage.

Future sales look great for many events, and there are still terrific seats

available at many shows. However, if you are still thinking about attending you should

New this season, the Community Partnership Initiative program has been well received

and we have already made plans to continue it in the future. If you know of, or are

associated with a non-profit service organization or entity that raises funds, or needs

funding to promote worthy causes in the greater Oconomowoc area, and would be

interested in being an OAC community initiative partner, please contact me at the OAC

before the end of December 2012. We are already starting work on our 2013/14 season

and would be happy to consider your group for participation.

It’s our way of giving back to the community to help organizations that are committed to

helping people through charitable programs and services.

B IOGR APHIES

Katie Armiger was 10 years old when she discovered she had a knack for expressing her thoughts and feelings into writing songs and poetry. With self-

determined focus, the little girl from Sugar Land, Texas, began putting those songs and poems to music and performing them with unwavering passions.

When she was just 14, Armiger entered Houston’s Best Country Singer competition for young country singers, earning the grand prize and a shot at recording a two-song demo, which evolved into her self-titled debut album, released in 2007.

While on the road opening for well-known country music artists Kellie Pickler, Jason Aldean, Craig Morgan and Luke Bryan, and most recently this last May, for LeAnn Rimes, Armiger has also been busy writing music and taping music videos. Often compared to seasoned country vocalists like Martina McBride, Shania Twain and Sara Evans, the 21-year-old pop-country singer tends not hold back allowing her passion and vocal ability to shine through in her music. Armiger released her second album, “believe” in 2008. Her third album, “Confessions of a Nice Girl,” was released in 2010.

Katie also earned the title of the Highest Charting Independent Female Artist of 2008 on R&R with “Unseen,” and the young lady with the enviable voice set yet another record for the highest debut for a solo independent artist since 2003 on the Music Row chart with her debut single, “17 in Abilene,” in 2007.

Armiger wrote or co-wrote nine of the 13 songs on the disc, “Confessions of a Nice Girl,” joining forces with some of Nashville’s

songwriters, such as Sarah Buxton, Blair Daly, Rebecca Lynn Howard and Joe West.

Now a Nashville resident herself, Armiger wrote “Leaving Home,” a song featured on the album, as a tribute to her mother before she made the move in 2010. “I’ve always known that singing was my dream and it’s what I wanted to do, but it’s definitely extremely hard to leave your parents,” she said.

Katie has been busy since March performing on her “Get Smart Tour,” sponsored by Great American Country (GAC). Armiger is billed as “one of the biggest and brightest independent female country artists.” The nearly 50-date tour will make stops in 18 states around the country through November.

The tour is making stops at colleges and major fairs and festivals across the country. Fans and newcomers to Armiger’s music will be treated to a concert that will include her hit singles “scream,” “Kiss Me Now,” “Leaving Home,” “Best Song Ever,” “I do, but Do I,” as well as new pieces.

Katie Armiger has just scratched the surface of what she is capable of. She is a passionate and driven performer well beyond her years.

Opening ActNora Collins is a singer/songwriter and recent high school graduate! She taught herself how to play guitar by writing songs, and didn’t just

write a song or two, but enough great music to launch her career.

Nora released her first CD “Red Chuck Taylors” in May 2009, while only 14 years

Community Initiative Program

For the 2012-13 Season, the Oconomowoc Arts

Center has teamed up with local Community

Initiative Partners as a way to give back to the

community. For Katie Armiger, the Oconomowoc

High School - National Honor Society (NHS) will be

the recipient. For every ticket sold, $2 will go back

to NHS as a fund raiser.

NHS announced that they will be supporting the Go Bo! Foundation.

Bo is a 13 year old, from Sister Bay, Wisconsin, who has been battling an

extremely rare form of cancer for more than a year. Doctors told Bo on

August 27, that there was no cure and that

there were no more treatment options for him.

On that day in August, Bo was coming home to

die. Two days later Bo came home to teach us

how to live. He wanted to start a foundation.

He wants people to remember him, but he

wants them to continue supporting others

the same way. He gave his mother a mission:

“I want you to run every run, walk every walk,”

he says. “It doesn’t matter who it is for. Raise

money, and go back to the HOT unit (at Children’s Hospital) to give families

a little money or a gift certificate. Anything.”

This is one of the many fund raisers in Bo’s name that the NHS will do

throughout the 2012-13 school year. Please stop by the table in the lobby

this evening to learn more about Bo and what you can do to help. For more

information on the NHS cause, please contact NHS advisor, Krista Wilcox at

[email protected] or at 262-560-3212. For more information

on Go Bo! Foundation, please see the face book page: Go Bo! Foundation.

old and her second, “Run Away With Me” at age 16. Erik Ernst of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel says, “At just 17 years old, Nora Collins is a talented singer-songwriter with a knack for blending country and pop melodies with lyrics about her life experiences and observations. Her most recent album, “Run Away With Me” showcases her musical ability and highlights her personal songwriting talent.”

Nora’s music has received a lot of attention, including plenty of airtime on FM106’s Home Made Jams, and thousands of hits on YouTube for her home music videos. The song and video for “Don’t Slow Down” earned Nora a top spot in Country Music Television’s Music City Madness 2009 national search for unsigned singer-songwriters. Out of 600 songs, Nora was selected by music professionals to compete as a top 64 finalist. Nora advanced to the Top (Sweet) 16, and was featured on CMT’s national Top 20 Countdown and locally on ABC,FOX and NBC newscasts.

Nora has released a second CD of her original songs, “Run Away With Me”. Two songs were recorded in Nashville with musicians that tour with Keith Urban, Lady A, Darius Rucker, Martina McBride

and Steve Holy. Music videos for the title track and “Dimples Filled with Lies” are on YouTube. “First Heartbreak” finished in the Top 20, out of 700 songs, in the Great Lakes Songwriting Contest.

Nora is the 2012 WAMI (Wisconsin Area Music Industry) “Rising Star” award winner. This award was voted by her peers in WAMI. She also won 1st place in the WAMI CD Roulette competition. Nora is the 2011 Wisconsin State winner in the Texaco Country Showdown. Nora was selected to perform at Summerfest in 2011 & 2012 and has played at Wisconsin State Fair, Chick Singer Night, Shank Hall, The Rave, Linneman’s, Winter Fest, Lakefront Festival of Arts and many other local venues. She has recently opened for Paul Thorn, Turnpike Troubadours and Chasin’ Mason. Nora has also performed the National Anthem at many professional events. Nora starred as Sandy in her high school’s musical production of Grease.

Nora’s web site, www.noracollins.com and www.ReverbNation.com feature her music, videos and schedule of upcoming performances. Ms. Collins has her own YouTube channel and her music is available for purchase on iTunes, Amazon and cdbaby.
