The cross in the middle means sacrifice, the blue means liberty, the red means fire and blood of independence. The emblem shows a bible, a cross of gold, four Dominican flags and two spears on a pattern from the flag ;branches of olive and palm around the shield, on a ribbon above there is a motto “Dios, Patria, Libertad” (“God , Fatherland, Liberty”). On the bottom there is another ribbon saying the country's name “Republica Dominicana”.
