Dr. Michael R. Johnson Department of Mathematical Sciences 100 Institute Road Worcester, MA 01609-2280 USA February 17, 2016 Dear to Whom it May Concern, My name is Dr. Michael R. Johnson and I am writing a letter of recommendation for one of my freshman students at WPI, Katelyn Burke. She was an excellent student of mine in Calculus III and Calculus IV during our A and B terms of the 2015-2016 academic year – earning A’s for both courses. She was a part of large classes but I had an opportunity to get to know her. She regularly attended office hours and stayed ahead in her studies. Since I have such large class populations, I often saw Katelyn in small group settings during office hours. She gets her point across in an efficient manner and was willing to help study partners that were struggling. From this experience I know she is personable, a great communicator, and someone you can trust responsibility to. Katelyn was among students who stood out most in my large classes at WPI that contain many talented individuals. I can speak positively about her character shown as a student and individual. I see her regularly on campus and she is a friendly and engaging person. Thank you for your time and consideration. She spoke enthusiastically about your particular internship and I am confident she would gain great experience under your program and help others achieve their goals for success.
