About the Author

The author comes from a small town in Scotland. She has two

beautiful daughters and two beautiful grandchildren. Kate loves

to write and wanted to write books from her mid-twenties but lifethrew her some good and some hard times. Spiritually she is now

ready to settle down a little and do all the things she wanted. The

author loves to have fun and play football and dance with her

children.

Chapter One

ffice) ?ust up the road from my mother@s home.

e stood there) leaning against a doorway on the other side

of the glass. saw him as stood in the 6ueue. This young

handsome man) with his black straight head of hair and his tallwell made physic. e wore a dark blue three-6uarter length

?acket.

4or a split second of taking my eyes off my daughter) /elleand looking past the woman serving) saw him and thought so

6uickly) know that man.

e looked back at me for that second and thought this

thought) as stared back at him. cannot possibly have known him though. There has never

been any *akistani men or women in St. Andrew@s that had ever

noticed before. So how did know this manB

) from a child always had a sith sense) a little psychic

ability and this was one thought would forget at the moment as

soon as my mother would speak.

7e were very close) and her and dad adored /elle. 8veryone

loved 5um. 5y husband would say on many occasionsD

ffice and walk

to the bakers and get our sausage rolls and cake. 7e were happy.

was only a couple of years married and thought) as did poor

Steven that is) that was the way we would always be) together.

The years went by) and when /elle was only seven) my

mum) so sadly) was taken from us at the age of sity-three. A

time where my father and would never get over such a loss.

Steven was prepared to sell his business and the house to get

5um better) but there was nothing anyone could do.

5y life changed there and then. wanted away from the one

person !my husband& who truly loved me at that time) but

always held a grudge of what a terrible father he was to our

daughter. e never changed a nappy when she was a baby) he

never fed her) he never tried to bond with her. e would ?ust say)

/ritney also was a beautiful girl. She was so loving like

/elle. She was also very clever) but was more the mummy@s girl.

7e lived by ourselves but saw my father every day.

e too changed when mum went. is happy-go-lucky)always wanting fun) left. e was always so broken-hearted. :ou

could see it in his eyes. 7e needed him and he) us too. e tried

very hard. 5y sister and bought him a very special black and

white border collie who he called E0addie@. 7e all loved this dog.

e was very loyal and clever) ad@s best friend.

The years would go by though) without thinking or seeing

this tall dark stranger) once saw in the *ost >ffice many years

ago) when was with my mother and /elle.

Fntil the days came of my father retiring and he and would

then go everywhere together) and this included the local *ost

>ffice again) where we would be regularly. >n several occasions

would be on my own for father@s pension and this is where it all

began.

/oth the stranger and my fate and destiny would bring us

closer together) as time would go on. A long time of patience andunderstanding) frustration and a sheer challenge of love andnever giving up.

This towering handsome man would soon know wouldintroduce himself to me as EShinda@.

Chapter Two

would see this handsome man named Shinda) on and off)

through the week) for the net year or two.

had /ritney) a bouncing ten pound baby. learnt very

6uickly that her father was a lay man from the net town. 7e

were not to last) as although he was most handsome and clever)

he would lay in bed all day and smoke cigarettes.

Shortly) after had /ritney) to pay the rent worked as amobile hairdresser and it helped raise etra money for myself and

the girls. had such a nice flat in such an undesirable street) ?ust

around the corner from the *ost >ffice and my dad.

5y sister) /everley and her family also had a house net to

my ad. /everley was four years older than myself. And as 5um

was away we were very close at that time. She and my brother-

in-law) avid) were my rocks.

/everley and ad would take /ritney for me now and again

to let me go out to do some hairdressing.

At that time was dating this young man named an. 7hom

also thought was my soul mate but it was not to be. e was more)

now as look back) a very dear friend who was so very close to.

7e would look forward to the nights and talk for hours on the phone. 7e would see each other as often as we could. was 6uite

happy at that time as was looking after my children and tryingto work. Sometimes an would sing to me as would now and

again let clients down through tiredness. t was a clash song

@m not going now@. 7e did have such a laugh togetherG the same

sense of humor.

Fnfortunately) as fate would have it) an and were not

meant to be. 7e were not to last more than two years as liked atthe weekends to go out and an was more a reserved homely

manD happy with playing games on his computer and fiing up

his American cars. guess we never stopped caring for each other

but we ?ust grew apart. 7e were always to remain good friends.

Shinda would speak often to me in his shop. A great big grin

on his face)

speak right now@ gesture and he drove on. e would speak to me

another time. Although liked the chase) was very protective

with my girls. And my family never saw me with this man. had

my good name to keep.

The net few years were to go so fast.

was now thirty-five years of age. Still a beautiful) very

popular) well-liked woman. was missing one thing back then

and always knew it but did not know what. always had

boyfriends and men waiting for me but really was not 6uitesatisfied as was so happy with my girls and ad but deep down guess was lonely.

worked in the afternoons in a grocery shop in St. Andrew@sfor an ndian man by the name of Ammy. 7e got along so well.

e was a kind) understanding) patient man. en?oyed the work as

a shop assistant. e would take care of the *ost >ffice and ) his

shop) and would work on my own) serving) filling shelves and

en?oy every day chatting with the customers.

was dating this chap from the same town as /ritney@s father

for almost a year now and was up the town shopping with him

arm in arm. Then) walking towards me on his own was Shinda.5y boyfriend had no idea who Shinda was) or why was looking

at him or what was thinking at the time. t happened that special

moment) that came and went) in a split second but seemed to take

a lot longer at the time. Shinda walked towards us and smiled tome. had not seen him for a while but something in my heart

melted said)

The year "##$ came and Ammy refused to give me two

weeks summer holidays with my girls. Things got a bit

uncomfortable at work because of this. had to find another ?ob)

and fast. did mention this to Shinda in his own shop and once

again he started to call me.

gave Ammy my notice. was looking for another ?ob

anyway as Ammy was selling his business so would have been

made redundant.

e grinned at the top of the stairs. 7ith a look of Eshe will be

drove down the road onto the main street and stopped

gasping for air. laughed but was so shy and embarrassed. called my sister who took great delight in telling me)

Chapter Three

ONE NIGHT STAND

5y mind over the net few days pondered over Shinda. 7hat if

this) what if that. even felt a little insulted thinking) what does

he think am) he is married and inviting me to his home. /ut at

the same time was curious and flattered as did find him

attractive.

5y relationship with this other man) as the few had been

with in the past) really meant nothing to me but ?ust boys to play

with. This stranger) however) seemed to have something hadnever felt or eperienced before. There was something pulling

me towards him.

7alking down the road a few nights later brought my

phone out my pocket) withheld my number) and rang his mobile. hung up as soon as he answered. ?ust wanted to hear his voice

for some reason but was too shy to speak. did not know if would speak or not) but it was something had to do.

Two seconds later as hung up) my phone rang. t was him.

7e seemed to have plenty to talk aboutD families) my

hairdressing) sports that we liked) people we knew. 8verything

nice.

is voice was so calm and so nice) deep but calm. The sortof voice that was interesting but could put you to sleep.

e after an hour turned and kissed my neck) then my right

ear. could have melted. This felt like no other. ow wanted

this man. e undressed me with such confidence as we lay on the

carpet. is feet were pulling my trousers down as he was on top

of me. /ut was melting with his kisses.

>n one hand was pushing him away on his shoulder and on

the other was holding his Kura to stop his hands going further)

but could not resist him. e had me like putty in his arms.

After) we spoke for a while we were happy and was

already) although denied to myself at first) was in love. This

was to be my first in a life time) one night stand with a man.

7ell) that was what planned.

I Have a Soft Spot For That Man

A couple of days had passed by and had not heard from Shinda.

had to do my usual run up to the *ost >ffice for my ad. twould give me an ecuse to see him on the 7ednesday) and he

served me.

Breaking Away

t always seemed so easy to get Shinda@s attention. All had to

do was go into his shop for milk or a first class stamp if he was in

the *ost >ffice and was guaranteed a phone call within the hour

of him saying)
