In the life of

Kat Von DKat Von D (Born Katherine Von Drachenberg, March 8th, 1982 in Montemorelos, Nuevo León, México) is a tattoo artist and television personality best known by her work on the American television show Miami Ink.

Currently, Kat owns her own tattoo shop and television show which is very similar has the same idea as Miami Ink., but the show was moved all the way to Los Angeles, California; and hence the name L.A. Ink.

Her father, René Von Drachenberg and mother, were born in Argentina, of German and Italian descent and Spanish descent respectively. She moved to Colton, California when she was 4 years old. Kat’s paternal grandmother was in charge of the artistic development, mainly piano, making Kat a great Composer. Kat has always maintained a big relationship with her parents and siblings. Caroline y Michael, her brother and sister, work with her. Caroline, her sister Works as a personal assistant, and her brother, Michael is responsible for the products signed by the star.

Although she was a brilliant student, she dropped out of school at 14 in order to dedicate herself to the tattoo art. When she was 16, Kat tattooed one man a day, but she had to lie constantly about her age.

In 1998, Kat started her first official tattoo shop named “Sin City Tattoo” located in her neighborhood; After a year and six months she moved to another tattoo place named “Blue Bird Tattoo” in Pasadena, and a year after that in “Red Hot Tattoo” in Arcadia. Even though she is very popular and knows too many people, she says that her real friends can be counted with just one hand, among them; she highlights her best friend Daniela. “She has become a very special person to me”, says Kat about Daniela.

She started working at “Inflictions” outsider Covina, Ca. some years later. This was a time of growth in her work, which is why she went on to “True Tattoo”, where she had the chance to work with Chris Garver and Clay Decker; with time, Kat became very talented and quality , therefore she ended up at “Miami Ink.” and now her own show “L.A. INK.” and she is happy to be considered a Rock idol, with thousands of fans around the world.

She married Oliver Peck, who she divorced abruptly. In fact, him, who is a tattoo artist also, in June of 2008 took away Kat’s Guiness World Record she had achieved by tattooing 400 people in 24 hours. Back to L.A., after her stay in Miami, Alex Orbison, son of Roy Orbison, was her loyal partner for months. Orbi even considering the possibility of proposing to Kat asked the blessing of the artist’s father. Unfortunately, this relationship ended too and Kat started a new one with Rock star Nikki Sixx. The couple says thay had have a good friendship for a long time.

Kat has many tattoos: “MI VIDA LOCA” on her upper back. A tattoo in honor of her mother in the scapula, another of her father on the forearm and one of Caroline, her sister. On her abdomen, she has “Hollywood” tattooed honoring her favorite city. She also has a tatto on her shoulder that reads “I love you”, dedicated to Nikki Sixx. On her right hand, on her fingers, has tattooed “TA” which means

Currently, Kat has her own clothing and make up line. In collaboration with Sephora, she organized an event that brought thousands of people around tattoos and Rock under the name of Musink. She is the owner of a tattoo studio “High Voltage Tattoo” and has a movie coming soon where she stars (The Bleeding, 2009). In January 2009. Kat published a book titled “High Voltage Tattoos” with pictures, tips, autobiography and other significant elements for tattoo lovers. She highlights the capability to become an icon, to imagine and reaching multiple projects and produce magnificent white and black tattoo (although she also dominates color) multiples projects and In addition to realize a few magnificent tattoos in black and white (though also it dominates the color) with special care when she takes on portraits.

“True Love Always”, a Heartgram and L. v B. inter alia. On her left hand, she has a Heartgram symbolizing her favorite band with Ville Vallo, L.A. stands for Los Angeles and her tattoo shop “High Voltage Tattoo” thunderbolt. On her wrists has “Brother” and “Sister” (in honor of her siblings). On her neck, Kat has a flower which reads “Oliver” (Her ex husband’s name). On her face, on the left side, she tattooed a set of stars, just like on her left eyelid, due to one of her favorite songs which is Starry Eyes by Motley Crüe. On her right side, there are three dots and a lightning. On her left shoulder she has “Los Angeles” next to other flowers on her arm. Also a tattoo of who was her friend and manager during the first season of L.A. Ink., Pixie, around her left leg, made by Nikko Hurtado. She also has another portrait of Jessie James, under her underarm, being a picture he sent to her when they started going out.
