The images and the information on systemic diseases are incredibly helpful and help to accurately diagnose a patient and implement an appropriate management pathway. For years Kanski’s book has been the main ‘go to’ book for any student or experienced practitioner alike. This new upto date edition continues that tradition of fantastic text and quality images and is upto date with current clinical decision making. It has been the ‘Gold Standard’ text for ocular pathology since my student days and is still an invaluable source of information in the consulting room every working day. If there is any doubt in my mind I prefer to check. I put my patient first not my pride. Kanski has never failed so far. My old and tatty 3rd Edition has been a trusted friend, but now it’s seen much better days and is coming to it’s end! Aſter twenty years of service, I’ll be sad to see it go but things move on, procedures change. It’s been helping me with all the topics I’ve needed to revise throughout my pre reg year! Not only is it convenient for looking up pathology and treatment, it helps me reach my slit lamp as I’m a few inches too short. It is comprehensive and indispensable. A constant companion throughout my career from day one - now updated and made accessible on a multimedia platform. If it isn’t in Kanski it doesn’t exist! It will help me prepare for and tackle my pre-reg year head-on (albeit with a very heavy handbag...) I am familiar with the outline of this comprehensive ophthalmic reference since my student times. The txt and pictures are so easy to understand that it makes ophthalmology Fun! I lost my seventh one! It helps me to preserve my patients’ most precious organ; by providing me with the most up to date, relavent and detailed information. I can’t live without it I believed the book will be more advanced with the updated details since I used 7th edition currently . It’s seriously beneficial in my studies. I am a newly qualified Optom, just started a job in a brand new Independent working environment and I need a little happiness in my stressful day ! This will help me continue to learn and be a keen young optometrist. I can be surprised with more knowledge than expected. Kanski is the clinical reference bible for all Optometrists. It has excellent written & photographic description of all eye conditions, & is the best reference book for optometrists & opthalmologists. My edition from 1988 is worn out with use! It’s been the best investment in my optometry career - equipping me with the answers to many of my pre reg questions over the last 20 years. It is highly recommended by individuals in the profession, as it is concise, informative and uses a range of pictures to aid understanding. As its an up to date copy and all the relevant details and pictures can easily be found and used as a reference. Everything at your finger tips with a great combination of images and clear accompanying text. It is the best all round visual and descriptive reference of ophthalmic problems. It is the most informative, concise and thorough ophthalmology book around. It is a vast fountain of knowledge. Neatly organised into aetiology, signs, symtoms, clinical pearls, it is the perfect reference. It can be assured that numerous photographs/diagrams accompany the text, to help visualise and bring the information to life For years Kanski’s book has been the main ‘go to’ book for any student or experienced practitioner alike. It is reliable, thorough and widely recognised. Every practice should have one! Is there any better reference source available? It’s clear to use, enjoyable to read and a clinical pearl. The authoritative text and excellent illustrations make the book easy to study and reference and yet amazingly comprehensive. It is the bible of optometry. I wouldn’t be here without it. It is the most used and referenced textbook by optometrist, ophthalmologists, lecturers and students. I can trust it to deliver concise practical information about any condition I come across. Its the go to book for ocular pathology it gets me out of sticky situations! It helps me to diagnose my patients more confidently and is a great point of reference when considering referral methods and describing what treatment options patients can expect. It gives up-to-date descriptive yet clinically useful advice on all aspects of the subject - as well as being beautifully illustrated. It provides the most comprehensive overview of common ocular diseases, including dry eye, glaucoma, uveitis, macular degeneration, retinal detachment, cataract, and vitreous opacities. It gives me quick and concise answers to questions I have about almost any eye condition allowing me to accurately diagnose, manage or treat my patients. It’s the ultimate reference book for pathology. As a student it is the first point of reference where I know I would find the answer I look for. It contains a wealth of knowledge and covers all the ocular conditions that you could ever imagine, and even those you wouldn’t think of! I can’t browse pages and pages of google images at work! Kanski’s book gives me a quick reference with related differential diagnosis nearby. I have never found a condition yet that it can’t give me information on , with fantastic photos and helpful advice. It provides an in depth, comprehensive guide to a wide range of ophthalmic conditions, suitable for eye care practitioners at all levels from students to clinicians and researchers. Kanski is a must read for all ophthalmic care providers. Its simply the best, better than all the rest, its better than anyone else’s text book. Im stuck on pathology therefore I hang on to every word thats typed. It is the Holy Grail of text books!! Its the most comprehensive guide containing pathology, treatments and referrals. To own one signed would be a dream come true! It is an excellent tool for primary care optometry, providing detailed descriptions of a wide range of ophthalmic conditions, prognosis and up-to-date management and treatments options, alongside very useful illustrations and photographs. I am currently doing my pre-reg year. Whenever I encounter some clinical condition that I not sure about, Kanski always will be my life saver. The information about the sign and symptoms for ocular conditions would be always beneficial for every practitioner. It is the most comprehensive yet easiest to follow ophthalmology book. Its the must have book for the student up to the ophthalmologist. A plethora of high quality images with a simple flow to help diagnose even the rarest of cases. If it’s not in Kanski, you haven’t been looked hard enough. It is easy to read with great quality images. The format of the book is superb when trying to find information and also when trying to recall what has been learnt. Every topic is covered which is great when doing Optometry in university and in practice. It’s my ‘bible of ophthalmology’ sitting on my shelf in my test room, giving me confidence every day, to face any ophthalmologic challenge. I begged my parents to invest in my future by buying Kanski for me when I was a poor undergrad in Aston. It got me through my degree and PQE’s successfully, and accompanied me on my career path, to my own independent practice. I wouldn’t be without it in my working day. I have heard it is an excellent reference tool for Optometrists even once they have graduated and work in practice. I wish to use this long aſter I have graduated, personally I believe you have to be able to apply your knowledge just as much as you have to pass your exams, with this I hope to do both and hopefully it can make me a better practitioner, there by enabling me to save lives and offer hope whilst making people smile! It is time and again, the most highly regarded work of literature amongst every professor, peer, and colleague I have come across in my career thus far. It has become an integral form of reference for every optometric/ophthalmologic professional as it provides wonderful illustrations, well detailed information, along with a chronological method of understanding on the whole of the visual system and its anatomy. It is a classic and comprehensive resource. The knowledge included in this book is tailored to the needs of optometrists at all stages of their career. As a final year student, this reference will not only assist my education, but will answer my questions regarding pathology I am intrigued by and the information it includes will help me beyond university. I have worked with this book during my second year summer placement and it has enhanced my learning experience and certainly broadened my horizons when it came to diagnosing and managing ocular disorders. It’s a quick, yet inclusive and efficiently laid out resource, with visually engaging pictures to improve the understanding of certain conditions. This book is a useful tool and will provide me with all the information required with regards to optometry and ophthalmology; adding to my confidence in dealing with common and uncommon conditions that I will encounter during my career. It comprehensively and thoroughly reviews ocular pathology and it has good resolution photographs of most of the pathologies. Being a final year student at City univeristy, I strongly beleive it bridges the gap between third year and pre registration year in terms of ocular pathologies and eye disease knowledge on the whole. Overall this book really ‘caught my eye.
