The Center for Public Policy & SafetyA center of learning and service that incorporates the academic departments and faculty for the majors of Criminal Justice, Emergency Management, Public Safety and a minor in Political Science, the CPPS also offers certificates in Business Continuity and Offender Management. It provides many services to the campus, community and the State of Kansas including undergraduate research, workshops and consulting in such areas as: crisis communication plans, emergency response planning, pandemic planning, police chaplaincy programs, risk assessments/hazard mitigation and threat assessments.

They may help city and county leaders to make better decisions by conducting research projects for such organizations as the County Jail, Salina Parks & Recreation Department, Salina Sports Medicine Center and Salina Area Chamber of Commerce. Students can also spend a semester in Washington, D.C., as a Washington Center intern with a federal agency such as the U.S. Marshals Service. Criminal Justice Major Requirements

CRIM 331: Methods of Research in the Behavioral Sciences, 3 cr.

Students must complete at least 15 hours of electives. Students can select four courses (CRIM 3-15 cr., BSHS 105 Foundations of Addictions 3 cr., EMGT, 6 cr.) or follow one of the concentration tracks below.
