Rivalry is an absolutely ‘must have’ thing when it comes to any game. It does provide an additionalverve to the game.  As Indian Cricket fans, we are always passionate and full of Alacrity aboutthe India- Pakistan rivalry. But, there is another sibling rivalry between the nations juxtaposed to theTasman Sea, Australia and New Zealand. The rendezvous between these two fabulous teams that tooin a World Cup Final at the MCG is just a sweet cherry on a luscious cake coming our way.

 Balanced Blackcaps

If we think about the team combinations and the performances between them in previous editions,Australia v/s New Zeeland has almost always been a David v/s Goliath war wherein, the Australiansalmost always having the hegemony. But, if considered for World Cup 2015, The Trans- Tasmanrivalry has changed its balance. The Kiwis, this time, look a more complete team than ever. They havegot an exuberant skipper in terms of Brendon McCullum who is letting his team play the free andconfident style of Cricket which he himself is known for. He believes in breaking the boundaries(literally) and his aggressive leadership has been conducive for his players to play their natural game. They have a formidable batting line-up with classy Williamson, in-form Guptil ,experienced Tailor and composed Elliot and Anderson.

Kiwis have been unbeaten throughout their world cup campaign which is quite remarkable thing tobank on. In the Semi final against the Proteas, they have shown great commitment and ability not tolet the pressure take over the minds. Trent Boult and Tim Southee have been in an awesome rhythmespecially with their fast full-length deliveries. The ever-green Daniel Vettory gives a differentdimension to their bowling unit. As a fielding unit too, Kiwis are as athletic as one would expect to beat the highest level.

Determined Kangaroos

The Kangaroos, on the other hand also have a powerful arsenal. If it is asked that after the UnitedStates of America, who has the most number of lethal big guns in the world, DarrenLehman and Michael Clarke can certainly boast of their Cricket team. They will certainly be exultedafter breaking the 7-match winning streak of the defending champions India at SCG. In eachdepartment, they have got some specialists who are capable of performing under pressure. Thechange of batting positions has worked for them with Steven Smith at the crucial no.3 position andkeeping Shane Watson down the order. Glenn Maxwell is a colossal hitter of the cricket ball. He canbe effective with his part-time off spin too against the Kiwis. They have got the liberty of playing three genuine quickies constantly bowling over 140mark. Mitchell Starc is extremely difficult to play at the death overs. With Mitch Johnson, JoshHazlewood and James Faulkner, this bowling attack looks just perfect for the Australian playingconditions.

The Journey

Both co-hosts have had a fairly good world cup campaigns. Australia had to be dormant againstBangladesh due to the washed-out game at the GABBA. Even though they lost against the Kiwis inone of the league matches, the lionhearted attempt shown by Mitchell Starc and the team was justlaudable defending the paltry total of 152. The Kiwis on the other hand looked in belligerent resonancewinning all their matches with all their departments doing well.

The battle

This time, it is the biggest of all the stages, the World Cup Final on the splendid Melbourne Cricketstadium. New Zealand have played all their matches on comparatively smaller grounds in theircountry, whereas, Australia will be playing on their home pitch. But, when there are hitterslike McCullum and Maxwell, the ball can easily travel to the moon.  It is as difficult to solve aconundrum to tell who will win the grand final. With a powerful batting lineup and equally capablebowling unit, Kiwis look as baleful as ever. On the other hand, the Kangaroos are blessed with playerseager to flail the opposition team. Kiwis are in the final for the very first time but Kangaroos havealmost made it their habit to reach the World cup final.
