Kindergarten will be doing their Best Start Assessments from 30 January to 1 February. Letters outlining Best Start assessment times will be forwarded home shortly and our 2019 Kindergarten students will commence classes on Monday 4 February. Farewelling Year 6 Best wishes to our Year 6 students as they leave Narromine Public School for the last time on Wednesday. They are a delightful team of students who will be missed in our playground and classrooms. Last week we hosted our Year 6 Farewell. Our wonderful Year 6 students gathered at the USMC on Thursday with their parents/carers to celebrate the end of their primary school years. The photos from this night are on the school website. What an amazing group of young people with so much potential for the future. Thank you to Mrs Turnbull, Mrs Atchison, Miss Rapone, Mrs Baker, Mrs Fortnum andMrs Walsh for taking such good care of these students throughout the year. Special thank you to Mrs Hilder, Mrs Masonwells, Mrs McCutcheon and their team who planned and organised the event at the club. The decorations were amazing and the graduation cake was delicious. Moving to high school is a significant moment for any child and their family and it can be a time of mixed emotions. For some families it is their first child to enter the world of high school and for others it is their last child leaving primary school, and the cutting of ties to Narromine Public School. We wish every success to each Year 6 student as they commence their secondary education. Royal far West and Moorambilla Voices Yesterday Mrs Smith, Mrs McKinnon and I had the very great pleasure of attending Royal Far West for the grand opening of their Centre for Country Kids in Manly. The centre was officially opened by the Governor of NSW, The Honourable David Hurley. Royal Far West (RFW) has been servicing country children and country schools for 94 years. Here at NPS we are linked daily to RFW through our Come and See Speech therapy program, each year a number of our students attend RFW for medical appointments and most recently RFW and the Santa Spectacular charity arrived with gifts to brighten the Christmas season for our students. An additional amazing moment was when the Moorambilla Voices entered the stage, front and centre was Jack Wilson (student at NPS). He sang like an angel and the crowd were reduced to tears at the beauty of the voices. We were all very proud and grateful to RFW for inviting NPS to attend this auspicious event.

PBL Rewards and Prize Winners

Our students have had the opportunity to take part in a variety of behaviour

reward activities this past fortnight and I would like to add congratulations to all

our PBL blue and red prize draw winners from yesterday’s Major PBL Prize Draw.

2019 Classes

Last week the students had the opportunity to mix and mingle with their 2019 classmates and teachers. This

opportunity is provided to ensure the students are settled and ready for the return to school, knowing who their

teacher will be and who will be in their class. This year we have two staff we are farewelling on Wednesday. We say

goodbye to Miss Brittany O’Dea who is heading up to Queensland to be a governess for the year, while Mrs Shibble

will be coming back in as a casual teacher from time to time while awaiting the birth of her beautiful baby. This is our

final newsletter for 2018 and I would like to recognise and thank our families for their ongoing support of Narromine

Public School, it’s staff and it’s students. We have had a very successful year with students learning and working hard

to meet stage benchmarks. We have experienced increased engagement with extra-curricular activities for our

parents/carers and our wellbeing/community initiatives have continued to link our school, families and health

together. Our families are very important to us, you are the positive backing from home that shares the value and

importance of education with your children, growing and endorsing the virtue of lifelong learning.

On behalf of the staff I wish our families a safe and happy holiday and a very Merry Christmas.
