I was given Jack as a birthday present by my late Grandfather.
We are the same age, both 1984 babies.
My Grandfather, Jack & I
Jack as a foal.
Jack loved being on the open trail, but showed off his stuff in the horse shows, which
landed us many ribbons. My friends and I rode him almost everyday, English, Western,
Bareback, and Double.
When I went to college my mother met a lady who wanted to use him for her kids while I was away. They signed a contract saying she was only to use him, not move him, sell him or do anything else with him.
When I returned my mother broke the news. The lady had sold my horse behind her back.
I haven't seen Jack since.
I went to the newspapers, begging for the public's help to find my horse. Santa Barbara is a small town, I thought someone would come forward. They did. Several people named a local man, but warned me he was known for being aggressive & violent. We contacted the Sheriff's Department & a lawyer. The lawyer met with the man, signed a agreement to return jack. I was ecstatic! However, on the day we were to meet, the guy backed out. In small claims court, the judge did not listen to our story, he was satisfied that the man was caring for jack and did not care about anything else.
If I stole your car, but got new brakes, does that make it okay? NO!
We could not afford to keep paying the lawyer to further peruse the case, and the man who has Jack continues to email me photos of Jack, similar to a ransom. We think he has moved to the Santa Ynez Valley, north of Santa Barbara, but do not know the exact location. To pursue the case, we need
to go back to court and/or get an attorney. Please take a good look at the photos in this slideshow. My horse is out there somewhere, please do the right thing and come forward. It can be
anonymous. Jack is a part of our family, and we miss him dearly.
These are some photos the man has sent me over the past year. The last know people to have Jack in their possession are: The lady we let use him originally, Melinda and the people she gave/sold him to: Tony & Carol.
