Welcome to this late edition of our newsletter…..

I feel as though I am learning something new everyday here in Kaimkillenbun. For a town that is so small, I learnt

yesterday just how big its heart is. I have been to many state school ANZAC Day ceremonies but I have to say that

yesterdays event was by far the most touching. I have been working closely with Mr Noel Burton and the Kaimkillenbun

ANZAC Committee and yesterday really was a testimony to their hard work and dedication along with our ever-present

P&C. The park that I drive past every few days was transformed into the most peaceful, tranquil gathering of

community. A gathering where people come together as one to commemorate those that have served and those that

have fallen. I have opened this weeks newsletter with some images that that have made this years commemeration

so special. I hope you like them.

I would like to thank Mrs Loretta Vickery and Mrs Jodi Grabbe for capturing all of the moments included here.

This weeks newsletter has lots of information – I encourage you to keep up to date with happenings both within the

school and outside of, to ensure that you don’t miss anything.

Invitation - seeking your input

The Queensland Department of Education is committed to ensuring that all students have access to

high quality learning opportunities, focused on their individual needs, in an inclusive setting.

Inclusive education ensures that schools are supportive and engaging places for all school community members. It builds

communities that value, celebrate and respond to diversity. It is under-pinned by respectful relationships between learners

and school community members. It is supported by collaborative relationships with parents and communities through

communication, learning partnerships, participation and consultative decision-making.

Each Queensland region has an Inclusion Coach. Their role is to support schools to develop inclusive practices. Our region’s

inclusion coach, Gail Williams, has offered to engage the Kaimkillenbun school community in a process that will identify our

strengths and areas to develop. In this process, Gail will meet with all school staff, some students and parents to learn more

about our school culture and our practices. Gail will then provide a report that collates these findings. The report will

provide considerations – areas that we could develop as we strengthen our inclusive practices across the school.

Gail will be in the school on Tuesday 15 May from 8:00am to 4:00pm. If you would like to meet with Gail to share your

perspectives on what we are doing well and areas that we can improve upon in relation to inclusive learning, please

contact me directly via email or phone so that I can schedule a time for you. I am also happy to answer any questions you

might have regarding inclusive learning via your preferred contact.

Until next week!

Ms Julia Bailey

Acting Principal
