Paxos® compact means reliability atthe highest level.

Tried and tested a thousandtimes over.

On the market since 1988,Paxos system and the new ver-sion Paxos compact today pro-vide security for a multitude ofapplications in sites throughoutEurope: in gold vaults andvaults of national banks, inautomatic teller machines, secu-rities repositories, banknoteprinting plants, jewelry reposito-ries, stamp museums, etc. Inseveral hundred million operat-ing hours, the systems haveachieved virtually 100% relia-bility.

Maximum security via systemredundancy.

For the most demanding securi-ty applications it is necessary todesign redundant systems forfailure critical operations. Nowa-days, this principle is used wher-ever maximum availability is re-quired: from satellite engineer-ing to locking technology. How-ever, full system redundancymeans much more than doublesecurity. In the case of redun-dant units, the unlikely chancethat two independent systemswill fail at the same time pro-duces a quantum leap in availa-bility. A double system designalso means very far-reachingfault detection and forced repair.Paxos compact statisticallyachieves an operating life of 15million hours until total systemfailure. This increases the avail-ability by a factor of 500; redun-dant systems without fault de-tection and forced repair onlyattain a factor of 1.5.

Since daily operation also hasto be maintained in the case ofa malfunction, it is critical how a redundant system behaveswhen a fault occurs. When afault is detected, Paxos compact

automatically switches to theredundant system part, whilethe locking system can still beopened without the interventionof the operator or service personnel.

Maximum security thanks to Legic technology.

The physical identification need-ed for arming/disarming a hig-her-level control unit is provid-ed by contactless, bugging-proof Legic Smart Card. Thisoffers numerous advantages,such as the possibility of differ-ent, independent applicationson one and the same badge,the integration of access con-trol and thanks to proximitytechnology they are resistant topollution and electrostaticdischarge.

Trouble free integration.

Based on the standard lockhousing Paxos compact willaccommodate a variety of bolt-throws through adjustable set-tings. Paxos compact can beinstalled in practically everysafe – even retrospectively.Existing safes can be updatedto the state-of-the-art lockingtechnology by economical retro-fitting.

Simple and yet versatile to use.

Paxos compact is a fully redun-dant motor-bolt lock that can besupplied from battery, mains, oremergency power (UPS). Due to the ingenious miniaturization,the redundant drive and elec-tronics units are located in thesmall standard housing. Bothkeypad and dialing-knob ver-sions use only one type of lockand this offers considerableadvantages.

Paxos compact optimizes theoperational reliability. Extremelysimple code input and codechange are part of this, as areautomatic locking and codescrambling, a remote-controlauthorization enable and disa-ble, duress alarm, opening de-lay, time limitation of the unlock-ing period, locking-period pro-gram, and much more.

Far-reaching event logging.

In Paxos compact, several hun-dred events are automaticallyand powerfailure protected stored in chronological order.This ensures the complete log-ging of all events even over verylong time periods. In addition,there is an on-line interfaceavailable for local and externalrecording/monitoring of theevents.

A dozen dialog languages can be selected.

Users with different native lan-guages profit from the fact thatthe dialog language can bechanged at the input unit.German, French, and Englishuser guides are permanentlyintegrated. A fourth can beoptionally selected from a dozenavailable languages.

Trouble free alarm integration.

The electronics of Paxos com-pact provides optimum condi-tions for the connection and theintegration of the lock and thealarm control unit. Alarms areprocessed by Paxos compact ina differentiated way. The follo-wing can be distinguished:

• Duress alarm• Bolt-open alarm• Tamper alarm

Paxos® compact offers the function andflexibility of four locks in one.

Optimum flexibility.

Paxos compact combines fourmain functions and thus fourlocks in one product:

• Code lock• Time lock• Double lock• Switching unit

Code lock.

The code lock can be operatedeither with keypad input or dia-ling-knob input. The dialing-knob input works with a randominitial code setting and an LEDdisplay with a restricted angle ofvisibility. It is therefore suitablefor maximum security require-ments.

Time lock.

The time lock has numerouspre-programmable possibilities.Weekly locking period blocks,dated and scheduled lockingperiods, recurring yearly lockingperiods, summertime and win-

tertime changeover. Openingdelays can be specified for nor-mal operation and/or for opera-tion under duress with silentalarm triggering. Furthermore,an acoustic alarm can be set tolimit the time of the releasedlock. Additional identificationafter the initial opening delayand partial locking are also fea-tured.

Double lock.

Paxos compact is designed as adouble-lock system. Operationwith one lock as well as with twoseparate locks is possible.Several opening authorizations

can be assigned to each lock.Additional hierarchy levels – inaddition to the master code, atime code and a mutation codeare available for each lock – and the 4-, 6- or 8-eyes princi-ple offers flexible organizationalsolutions with maximum se-curity.

Switching unit.

With the Switching Unit VdSoption, Paxos compact can beused for arming/disarming ahigher-level control unit, (suchas an intruder detection sys-tem). With Paxos compact, thephysical identification neededfor arming/disarming is providedby the Contactless Legic Smart

Card. They are available in aninconspicuous form (chip card,bracelet, watch, keychain pen-dant, etc) for security of use.
