    SYMBOLS

Special coloured labels have beenattached near or actually on some of the components of your car. Theselabels bear symbols that remind you of the precautions to be taken as regardsthat particular component.

    THE FORD SYSTEM

This is an electrical engine locking systemwhich increases protection fromattempted theft of the car. It isautomatically activated when the ignitionkey is extracted. Each time the car is started by turningthe ignition key to MAR, the FordCODE system control unit sends anacknowledgement code to the enginecontrol unit to deactivate the inhibitor.

If, during ignition, the code is notcorrectly recognized, the lightYlights up on the instrument panel.

In this case, turn the key to STOP andthen back to MAR. Try with the otherkeys provided if the problem persists.Contact a Ford Dealership if you stillcannot start the engine.

IMPORTANT Each key has its owncode which must be stored by thesystem ECU. Contact the FordDealership to have new keys (up toeight) stored with the code.

The electronic componentsinside the key may bedamaged if the key issubjected to violent shocks.
