The Creator

Al-Khaaliq

We have learned that Allah ta`ala is the creator of all that

exist, He is the protector for all of His creation, and He is

the one in control of all affairs alhamdulillah.

Who created the 7 heavens?

Who created the 7 earths?

Who created the sun, moon, and stars?

Who created the animals (birds, bears, whales, or ants)?

Who created You?

Who is it that keeps you safe from harm?

Who is it that gives everything life?

Who is it that can cause you to die?

The hadith of

Abu Sa`id al-Khudri Abu Sa’id al-Khudri, may Allah be pleased with him,

reported that Allah’s Messenger (salla allahu alaihi wa

salaam) said;

“Musa (alayhi as-salaam) said; ‘O lord! Teach me something

I can remember you and call upon you with! He

(subhanahu wa ta’ala) said, ‘O Musa! Say: “La Ilaha illa

Allah” (none has the right to be worshipped except Allah).’

He said, ‘But all of your worshippers say this.’ He

(subhanahu wa ta’ala) said, ‘O Musa! If the seven heavens

and what is in them other than me (Ghairy), and the seven

earths were in a pan (of a scale) and La Ilaha illa Allah was

in another pan, then La Ilaha illa Allah would outweigh

them.’

Recorded by Ibn Hibban and Al-Hakim who graded it

Sahih.

Allah (subhanahu wa ta’ala) said;

“Ibrahim was indeed an Ummah, purely devout in obedi-

ence to Allah, he was not one of the Mushrikin

(polytheists).” 16:120

And Allah ta`ala says the believers are; “… those who do not

associate partners with their Lord.” 23:59

Laa ilaha

illa Allah

Allah ta`ala has commanded us to give the statement of faith.

The seven conditions of the statement

Laa ilaha illa Allah are as follows:

1. Knowledge - Knowing that Allah is

The only One who deserves worship and that to worship anything other

than Him is shirk. 47:19

2. Certainty - that you not only say the phrase but that you believe it,

having no doubt in your heart that what you are saying is the truth.

49:15

3. Sincerity -You must perform all deeds and actions sincerely and solely

for Allah alone with a good intention to worship Allah ta`ala. 98:5

4. Truth - You must be truthful with Allah, your belief, your sayings, and

in the way you carry the message of Islam to others. 9:119

5. Love - You must love the words, that which it allows and restricts you

from, an act according to its meaning. Also you must love Allah and His

messenger (salla allahu alaihi wa salaam) above everything else. 2:165

6. Submission - You must submit yourself completely to Allah sub-

hanahu wa ta`ala and all that this requires by acting according to His

commands. 31:22

7. Acceptance - You must accept all implications of the statement both

with your heart and your tongue. 2:136

8. Disbelief in all that is worshipped other than Allah.

Page 9: K2 - k3 Courses Workbook Series Courses 2nd Grade... · That I must love Allah more than anything or anyone else ... worshipping the idols,” 14:35 ... “Whoever dies and he is

The statement of Allah ta`ala:

Say: “La Ilaha illa Allah” (none has the right to be worshipped except Allah).’

As a Muslim we have learned that knowledge and action comes before

speech. So making this statement alone is not enough, mashaAllah tabara-

kallah. You must also do the following:

You must learn about Allah ta`ala (The Most High)

You must not make any partners with Allah (Not committing Shirk by re-

jecting any and all things that are worshipped falsely besides Allah )

You must believe that this statement is the truth

You must act upon obedience to Allah and His Messenger

Allah subhanahu wa ta`ala says:

And of mankind are some who take (for worship) others besides Allah as ri-

vals (to Allah). They love them as they love Allah. But those who believe,

love Allah more (than anything else). If only, those who do wrong could

see, when they will see the torment, that all power belongs to Allah and that

Allah is severe in punishment. (2:165)

It is also narrated on the authority of Abu Malik: I heard the Messenger of

Allah (salla allahu alaihi wa salaam) say: “He who professed that there is no

god but Allah and made a denial of everything which the people worship be-

side Allah, his property and blood became inviolable, an their affairs rest

with Allah.”(Sahih Muslim, Book of Faith)

What does inviolable mean? In the Webster dictionary it says secure from

violation, assault, or trespass.

Page 10: K2 - k3 Courses Workbook Series Courses 2nd Grade... · That I must love Allah more than anything or anyone else ... worshipping the idols,” 14:35 ... “Whoever dies and he is

As believers we must

believe and say, as in

the hadith below “Ubadah bin al-Samit said, “Allah’s Messenger

(salla allahu alaihi wa salaam) said;

‘Whosoever testifies that there is no god but

Allah, alone without partners, and that

Muhammad is His worshipper and Messenger,

and that ‘Isa is a worshipper of Allah, His

Messenger, His word delivered to Maryam, and

a soul from Him, and that Paradise is true, and

that the Fire is true, Allah will admit him to

Paradise whatever his deeds may be.”

(al-Bukhari and Muslim)

Page 11: K2 - k3 Courses Workbook Series Courses 2nd Grade... · That I must love Allah more than anything or anyone else ... worshipping the idols,” 14:35 ... “Whoever dies and he is

There are Two Pillars

of Laa Ilaha Illa Allah

1. Believing and saying Laa Ilaha - negates shirk

“Whoever disbelieves in Taghut (false deities)

and believes in Allah, then he has grasped the

most trustworthy handhold that will never

break.”

2:256

2. Illa Allah - is affirmation that Allah is the only

one who deserves to be worshipped.

And He says:

“Verily, I am innocent of what you worship,

except Him who did create me, and verily, He

will guide me.”

43:26-27

What do we know about those who worship other than Allah?

Remember , in our previous class we talked about people who call

upon statues, saints, stones and other things seeking a means of

worship to Allah. Allah refutes this behavior, and by doing these

things a person commits major shirk.

They call upon righteous beings (such as ‘Isa the son of Maryam

(alaihi salaam), other prophets, and the angels) to bring them

closer to their Lord or to intercede for them. However, the right-

eous ones that they are calling upon are hoping for the mercy of Al-

lah ta`ala and fearing Him just as they are.

Allah ta`ala says:

Those whom they call upon themselves, desire a means of access to

their Lord, they hope for His mercy and fear His torment. Verily,

the torment of your Lord is (something) to be afraid of!

Al-Isra 17:57

Allah also says:

“And (remember) when Ibrahim said to his father and his people:

‘Verily, I am innocent of what you worship,' Except Him Who cre-

ated me; and verily, He will guide me. And he made it a word last-

ing among his offspring, that they may turn back.”(43:26-28)

Prophet Ibrahim

(alaihi salaam) Allah (subhanahu wa ta’ala) said;

“Indeed Allah does not forgive associating

partners with Him, and He forgives other

than that as He wills,” And Al-Khalil

(Prophet Ibrahim) said, “And prevent me and

my descendants from worshipping the idols,”

As believers we should fear committing shirk

and ask Allah to save us and our families

Prophet (salla allahu alaihi wa salaam) said:

“Whoever meets Allah (on the Day of Judgement) not hav-

ing associated anyone with Him (in worship), shall enter

Paradise; and whoever meets Him having committed Shirk

in any way will enter the Hell-Fire.”

What do we mean by acts of worship?

Alhamdulillah, surely Allah has revealed to us every detail

of how He should be worshipped. We can find this informa-

tion by looking in the Quran or the Sunnah (Ahaadith)

books., and writings from the Scholars.

Let’s take a look at a few common types of worship that we

do as Muslims . The first five are the (PILLARS) of Islam.

Taking your Shahadah

Making Salaat 5 (or more) times a day.

Saum (Fasting for the Month of Ramadan)

Paying Zakat

And Making Pilgrimage to the House (Hajj)

Other acts of worship include;

Reading Quran

Making Dua

Loving your brother or sister in Islam solely for Allah

Having complete faith and trust in Allah

Loving the prophet (salla allahu alaihi wa salaam) more

than your family, all of mankind, and yourself.

Giving Sadaqa to your family first and then others

Page 19: K2 - k3 Courses Workbook Series Courses 2nd Grade... · That I must love Allah more than anything or anyone else ... worshipping the idols,” 14:35 ... “Whoever dies and he is

To have fear of Allah alone and trust in Him is an act of

worship.

Allah ta`ala says in the Quran:

“It is only Satan that suggests to you the fear of his

“auliya” (his friends and supporters), so fear them not, but

fear me, if you are (true) believers.”

Surah Al-Imran 3: 175

“Of mankind are some who say: “We believe in Allah”, but if

they are made to suffer for the sake of Allah, they consider

the trial of mankind as Allah’s punishment.”

29:10

Putting your trust in Allah ta`ala is an act of worship:

Allah says in the Noble Quran

“O Prophet (Muhammad salla allahu alaihi wa salaam)! Al-

lah is sufficient for you and for the believers who follow

you.”

8:64

And He says:

“And whosoever puts his trust in Allah, then He will suffice

him.”

65:3

Page 20: K2 - k3 Courses Workbook Series Courses 2nd Grade... · That I must love Allah more than anything or anyone else ... worshipping the idols,” 14:35 ... “Whoever dies and he is

A part of Iman (belief) in

Allah is to have sabr with

what Allah has decreed. Allah (subhanahu wa ta’ala) has said;

“And whosoever believes in Allah, He guides his

heart (to the true faith with certainty)... and

Allah is the All-Knower of everything. 64:11

So we say, what has befallen you was already

written for you by Allah from the Qadar. When

you are stricken with a trial or hardship you

must accept it, stay patient and submit to Allah’s

will.

“The greatness of the reward is tied to the

greatness of the trial. When Allah loves a people,

He puts them to trials, whoever accepts it, will

have Allah’s acceptance....”)

Review what you have learned

Points of Benefit:

All worship must be for Allah ta`ala alone

Fearing Allah is an act of worship

Not to fear the shaytan and those who are his friends and helpers

Placing my Trust in Allah alone is an act of Worship

Saying Allah is sufficient for me

A part of Iman is to accept, be patience, and submit to Allah’s

decree. All of this is an act of worship
