Dear Kindergarten Families,
The children are now more at home in their
classroom environment and know many of
their classmates’ names. Some have formed
bonds with a few classmates, while others may
still need help in doing so. Most of them
probably see you as an assistant in helping
them resolve their problems properly. This
unit is designed to help children with problem
solving skills in resolving conflicts by taking
steps along the way to create a win-win, in
which all parties feel that they have won.
Please try and practice these problem solving
skills at home.

Mr. Ralph C. Bland, Superintendent
Dear Kindergarten Families, This week we will continue our unit “Buggy
About Spring”. In the second part of the unit, your
child will learn more about the cyclic nature of the
seasons, building on what he or she learned in the fall
and winter units. We will focus on the changes in
nature and human activity in our region that are the
result of the spring season’s warmer temperatures. As
the weather changes into spring please help your child
to be detectives looking for signs of spring around
them.
Educationally,
The Kindergarten Team

Math: Students will practice counting and identifying numbers, understanding attributes and using a number grid. Science: Students will continue to learn about properties of liquids. Social Studies: Students will continue to discuss purposes and functions of clothing over time. Writing: March is poetry month! Students will continue to work on descriptive poetry by using their five senses (see, hear, taste, touch and smell) as descriptors when writing.
Reading: Students will continue the shared story, The Jumping Sack. Students will read and discuss this story in class and at home. It is very important that your child completes one part of the read and respond form each day. The read and respond form should be returned with their book, daily. Day five’s read and respond question is on a “Big Book”, which is not the shared story for the week. Your child reads the Big Book in class and should discuss it with you at home while completing the question (Day 5).
*** Please note: Teachers are required to record and report read and respond completion to the
Assistant Principal. ***
Grades may be lowered for all read and respond forms not completed at home.
