Ms. Burke moved to Kindergarten.
I visited the class, helped out, got to know the
students, and then did an art lesson.
It was Dr. Seuss week in the K classrooms!
I read this book to the class.
It talks about uniqueness
and the many differences
in the world.

The lesson took place over multiple days.
One day, Olivia, a third grade student, read this book to the class.
Essential Question
How can we use a process of steps and decision making to create a work of art from concept to completion? How can things we read influence our art? Can we use our imagination to create a unique work of art based on a particular subject? (fish)
SWBAT
Following a group demonstration by the teacher on how the draw a fish large enough to fit the page, and a discussion about what common characteristics fish have and the many unique fish there are in the world, students, individually, with teacher supervision, will be able to use their imagination to draw a fish with a black magic marker and then paint the fish colors of their choosing using tempera paint.
SWK
• as with many things in life, fish have common features (fins, eyes, mouth), but many different appearances.
• we can use our imagination to create a work of art.
• creating artwork from concept to completion involves a process of steps.
