[ Tool Sensor Detection Statistics ]This graph shows the statistics of detections by tool sensor for 325,000 times.

As this result shows, as sensing is done many times, the difference between the highest position which detects ON and the lowest can be settled down in same position.

Therefore, a tolerance of the micro switch itself will not be affected.

Safety for detecting the clamp locationCable-free table and improved spindle behavior achieved a full automatic detection without opening the cover.Since there are 3 types of clamps came in the package, there are more chances to do sensor detection which is required when changing clamps. Safe and automatic detection is realized.

In MDX-40/540 and JWX-10, it was necessary to open the cover and turn the tool half a turn by hand during the detection sequence for rotary unit and for jig detection.

Cable-free tableThere is no need to connect and disconnect the sensor cable during the detection process. No need to worry about cable jamming.

Automated spindle rotationHalf turn of the tool is done automatically during the detection sequence.

Slight backlash is necessary for rotary action. With absence of backlash, it gives abnormal load to the gears resulting in rusty rotating. Appropriate backlash within stable range is good.

Backlash is measured by a special device every 9 degrees in a full round (360º)

Backlash of rotary unitThere is a slight error in the rotating angle of the rotary-axis unit.Rotary unit of JWX-30 improves rigidness of worm gear structure to realize narrow ranged backlash.

Page 20: JWX-30_e

19/76

By this rigid structure, the rotation accuracy cannot be affected even by a collision during jig detection.

230N When cutting dust was not cleaned out, it may make a collision of the detection pin due to nonconductive contact with the clamp.(Collision during jig detection will be 230N.)

Even with abnormal external force unexpectedly, shaking derived from the parts will not be made, but it can preserves appropriate and stable backlash.

**Never attempt to rotate the rotary unit by hands. It can give more than 300N.

Tube ClampFor cutting with Tube clamp, it is appropriate for cutting plain shaped ring from tubular modeling wax or cutting several rings.

Not possible to cut the inner side of the tube material. It requires hand-cutting for the inner shaping and sizing.

Swivel ClampSwivel clamp is suitable for both rotary cutting and table cutting. Cutting on rotary unit and on table by detaching and attaching the clamp lets you make jewelry models like chaton(bezel). Cutting on either rotary or table is also available.

This method performs cutting on the workpiece which is mounted securely to the rotary axis. It lets you perform multiple-surface cutting while rotating the workpiece.

This method performs cutting on the workpiece which is mounted securely to the table. This performs cutting only from the top side of the workpiece.

Square ClampSquare Clamp enables you to perform "two-surface cutting" and "circumferential cutting.” It is available to cut the side face of a ring, and the face of a brooch or locket, that are not possible with tube clamp.

This method cuts the surfaces one at a time by rotating the workpiece by 180 degrees. For a ring-type model, it cuts the side face, and for brooch-type model, it cuts the both top and bottom surfaces.

Similar to cutting with the tube clamp, it is suitable for cutting the exterior of a ring** This method requires a milling support structure, thatmust be fashioned using two-surface cutting beforehand.

Collison of tool with clamp is not possible to happen in the hard-clipped area.

However, carefully move the spindle in its operational area. It is still possible to make a collision.

Cuttable Area in SRP PlayerFor the workable area which was not hard-clipped by JWX-30, SRP Player can narrow the workable area and set the cuttable area, so that the cutting tool can avoid a collision with the clamp. This narrowed area differs up to the clamp.

By adjusting X origin of JWX-30 to the cuttable area in SRP Player, you need to avoid a collision of tool with clamp holder.

When using the tube clamp, you can set the X origin anywhere you like. Thus, it may make a collision with the clamp holder depending on the position of X origin you set.

Detection of ClampFor detection of tube / square / swivel clamps, the coordinates at conductive contacts with the clamp are saved and used for calculation of its location.

Followings are being done by detection.

Getting information of the clamp typeDetecting Y coordinate as center of rotationDetecting Z coordinate as center of rotationCalibrating the tilt of the clamp

Error can be made when cutting dust is put on the detectiing points of the clamp or on the detection pin.

9 : Detection

Page 43: JWX-30_e

42/76

Calibration for Tilt of the ClampA axis of attached clamp should be accurately parallel to the X axis. However, it often makes a slight tilt due to variation of clamp attachment.

By detecting the clamp, the machine recognizes the center of rotation and tilted degree to the X axis.

Y

Y

Adjustment to the tilted clamp can be considered as if the entire XY coordinates grid for workable area is tilted for the same amount.

The same thing happens for XZ direction.

With the adjustment activated, when you move one axis by cursor key, the other two axes would make a slight move at the same time. This is a feature you can see when the adjustment is applied to the all 3 axes.

9 : Detection

Page 45: JWX-30_e

44/76

No detection error with the same detected point of the detection pin.

To reduce this detection error, a proper attachment of the clamp is a key. Remove cutting dust for all contacts of the clamp and eliminate any slackness from the clamp and related parts by tightening the screws firmly.

A clamp tilting caused by hand attachment and a tilt of A axis can be calibrated, but there is a slight detection error which affects the cutting quality.

Slight detection error with different detected point of the detection pin.

The detection pin is carried to the detecting points that are determined by coordinates. Thus, the contacts at those points may vary if the clamp is tilted. The bigger tilting of the clamp makes the bigger detection error.

[ Table Cutting ]

[ Consistency between Rotary cutting and Table cutting ]XYZ origins of CAD data should be 90º different between “Rotary cutting” and “Table cutting”. However, by using CAM Export function in JewelStudio, the consistency of direction and cutting positions can be kept in Rotary cutting and Table cutting.

[ Square Clamp ]Cutting with the Square Clamp is done in order of [Two-surface cutting] first and then [Circumferential cutting]. This is because of necessity of cutting out “Milling support structure” beforehand in two-surface cutting.

JewelStudio has a function to add “Milling support structure” to a CAD data.

Caution when cutting “Milling Support Structure”Be sure to perform Roughing and Finishing using with the bundledball end mill CAP-LN-EBD.

Without doing Finishing, the workpiece can break when performing Circumferential cutting.

Tip when cutting “Milling Support Structure”Specify the cutting area for Finishing at the 3 holes only.

Finishing by CAP-LN-EBD should be added if the project file (spj) does not have it.

When opening a CAD data by SRP Player instead of using “CAM Export” function of JewelStudio, the orientation of the model for cutting should be carefully taken care.

[Swivel Clamp : Rotary cutting Table cutting]The orientation of the model for cutting should be consistent between Rotary cutting and Table cutting. Otherwise, the cutting position comes different from projected and gives improper cutting result.

12 : SRP Player

[ Rotary Cutting ] [ Table Cutting ]At the step 1 on SRP Player “Model Size and Orientation”, be sure to rotate 90º to orient +Z to -X direction.

** Rotary cutting and Table cutting cannot be made in one project.

As well as “Two-surface cutting” and “Circumferential cutting” with Square clamp, the model’s orientation should be cared on SRP Player.

Cutting Result by Tool shapeFinishing tool (ZEC-J3015) has a steely acute tip to achieve precise cutting. The tip forms ball in less than 0.1mm. The pitch for tool path in XY axis should be set appropriately. The bigger pitch makes the much uncut between the pitch, and the narrower pitch makes the longer processing time.

Since JWX-30 often uses small diameter tools, error may not come out even if a physical stress is born between the tool and workpiece. The tool would be damaged before making error.

Damage of spindle motor or seizing of spindle unit may be generated.
