Welcome to our 15th Annual Justamere Sale of the Year Angus Female Sale. First off, we want to say thank you to you, our valued customers and friends; we appreciate your business more than a lot of you will ever know. Next, how more exciting can times be in the cattle business! I spend quite a bit of time at our local auction market and it is truly rewarding to see friends and customers in the commercial business downright excited and happy with their sale cheques. Be it grassers, cow/calf pairs, cull cattle, both cows and bulls and now getting into the fall calf run, we are beginning to see how truly amazing this market is going to be in the foreseeable future. Now is the time to be in the Angus cattle business more than ever before, as we all know it is the backbone of the entire cattle industry. The cattle we have on offer in this year’s sale are without a doubt our most exciting group ever. We have herdsire prospects sired by the $300,000.00 EXAR Denver 2002B, R.O.V. 2013 Show Bull of the Year; Sankey’s Justified 101 and Canadian National Champion EXAR Fortify and an amazing outcross bull sired by Koupals Moco 253. These bulls have the phenotype, EPDs and performance to improve your programs and have some fun showing them, if that’s where you want to go with them. Our friend, Steve Dorran was here to have a preview of the sale offering and he commented that this is our finest offering yet. We appreciate that and want to thank Steve for his many years of dedication to our sale and our family. The show heifers are always my favorite part of this sale, mainly because each of them possess the ability to become not only champions in the ring but some of the future breed leading females, as they mature and turn into the images of the great cow families they derive from. The Miss Barbaras, Carlas, Blackcaps, Blackbirds, Ritas and Dixie Ericas all are generations of superb Angus females that have helped to create and move forward this great breed. We have show heifers sired by Champion Sankey’s Justified, National Champion EXAR Fortify, EXAR Big Timber, Justamere Bell Ringer, EXAR Denver, some of the breed leading sires of this exciting and diverse Angus cattle business.

Our bred heifer offering is anchored by several daughters of Justamere Bada Bing, whom has well proven his ability to sire great females and bulls across North America. Also four dynamite females by EXAR Upshot 0562B and some very interesting Express females with impeccable genomic and EPD profiles, as well as breed leading genetic influences. These heifers are mostly AI serviced to Sankey’s Justified, EXAR Fortify, as well as EXAR Denver 2002B and EXAR Turning Point. They were all pasture exposed after AI to EXAR First Impression 3273B, a superb son of the two time Denver Champion, Dameron First Impression. We own 3273B in partnership with Harvest Angus, Tom Dewaal and he will be in the show ring in the near future.

The cow/calf pairs are personally my hardest decision for our sales. As we try to rebuild our numbers, these young females should be staying in the herd. However we are proud to offer our best. The donor cow candidate, EXAR Dixie Erica 0868 is definitely a feature. As well as the Moneymaker, Bada Bing, BC Big Daddy, GAR Gridmaker daughters are well bred and have some excellent show heifer quality calves at side by EXAR Denver, Justamere Bellagio, EXAR Fortify and they are all halter broke as well.

The Semen and Embryo lots are definitely rare and valuable. The legendary sires, Leachman Right Time and EXAR Lutton are genetics that are more valuable with every passing day. BC Raven, Schurtopp MC 2500 and CJ Prestige are champions and sires of champions and as well have stood the test of time and have risen to the top of their contemporaries.

Finally, our club calf section is new and exciting. We are offering four prospect heifer calves as well as one steer calf and three great bred females all serviced to Justamere Captain Phil, a standout at all the major shows last fall and in the Denver yards in January 2014.

This section will feature the club calf portion of our sales. As many of your know, the club calf industry has become wildly popular in recent years, especially in the United States but certainly is catching on in Canada as well. Our son Jon has taken a keen interest in this industry and hopes to build a small but powerful herd of these cattle. The Angus and Hereford breeds have always been the cornerstone at Justamere and will continue to be. However, after watching and learning and seeing the excitement in these young people’s attitude toward this industry, makes us proud to play a small part. Anything that is a positive in a youngster’s life derived from agriculture is a great thing.
