Homeowners learning from experience:

A recent Harris Poll found that two-thirds of people who had experienced a prolonged power outage were motivated by their time in the dark to better prepare.

The survey, conducted last spring and sponsored by Briggs & Stratton, also found that one out of every four homeowners had lost power for 12 hours or longer at least once in the last two years — with approximately 66 percent confirming that they would alter their approach prior to the next outage.
