SUNDAY BIBLE STUDY – 9:45 AM
STUDY OF THE BOOK OF REVELATION THE AUTHOR OF REVELATION MENTIONED HIS NAME, JOHN, FOUR TIMES THROUGHOUT THE
BOOK (REVELATION 1:1, 4, 9; 22:8). CHRISTIANS THROUGHOUT HISTORY HAVE GIVEN ALMOST
UNANIMOUS AFFIRMATION TO THE IDENTITY OF THE BOOK’S AUTHOR AS JOHN THE APOSTLE,
WHO HAD BEEN EXILED TO THE ISLAND OF PATMOS BY THE AUTHORITIES FOR PREACHING THE
GOSPEL IN ASIA. USUALLY WHEN PEOPLE MENTION THE BOOK OF REVELATION, THEY
IMMEDIATELY THINK ABOUT JUDGMENT. AND WITHOUT A DOUBT, MUCH JUDGMENT OCCURS IN
THE BOOK. HOWEVER, REVELATION DOES NOT END WITH JUDGMENT. INSTEAD, IT PROVIDES A
STRIKING BOOKEND FOR THE ENTIRE BIBLE, WHICH BEGINS IN PARADISE AND ENDS IN PARADISE.
MORE THAN JUDGMENT ON THE EVILDOERS, REVELATION IS A BOOK ABOUT HOPE FOR THE
FAITHFUL IN CHRIST.
WEDNESDAY BIBLE STUDY – 4:00 PM STUDY OF THE BOOK OF 1 & 2 KINGS
THE BOOKS OF FIRST AND SECOND KINGS ARE THE STORY OF ISRAEL’S DECLINE. WHEREAS 1ST
& 2ND SAMUEL DOCUMENT ISRAEL’S SHIFT FROM CORRUPT JUDGES TO THE RIGHTEOUS
LEADERSHIP OF DAVID, KINGS SHOWS HOW ISRAEL DIVIDES AND FALLS INTO THE HANDS OF HER
ENEMIES. THESE BOOKS OF HISTORY PICK UP WHERE 2ND SAMUEL LEFT OFF: ISRAEL IS UNITED
UNDER THE GODLY KING DAVID, WHO APPOINTS HIS SON SOLOMON TO RULE AFTER HIM.
SOLOMON IS BLESSED WITH WISDOM AND CHARGED WITH BUILDING A MAJESTIC TEMPLE TO THE
LORD IN JERUSALEM. GOD TELLS SOLOMON TO REMEMBER HIM AND FOLLOW HIS FATHER
DAVID’S EXAMPLE. UNFORTUNATELY, SOLOMON IS UNFAITHFUL TO GOD IN HIS LATER YEARS,
AND GOD DIVIDES THE KINGDOM AFTER HIS DEATH. THE NORTHERN TEN TRIBES FOLLOW
SOLOMON’S FORMER WARRIOR AND TASKMASTER JEROBOAM, AND THE TRIBES OF JUDAH AND
BENJAMIN REMAIN LOYAL TO THE THRONE OF DAVID.
THURSDAY ONLINE BIBLE STUDY STUDY OF THE BOOK OF ESTHER
THE STORY OF QUEEN ESTHER IS ONE OF THE BIBLE’S MOST DRAMATIC – A NEW YOUNG
QUEEN, AN EVIL ADVISER TO THE KING, AND A BIG DILEMMA FOR ESTHER! THE BASIC
PLOT SUMMARY IS THIS: KING AHASUERUS GETS VERY ANGRY AS HIS QUEEN, VASHTI,
AND BANISHES HER. ESTHER IS BOOK NUMBER 17 IN THE OLD TESTAMENT OF THE BIBLE.
IT CONTAINS 10 CHAPTERS. THE AUTHOR OF THE BOOK OF ESTHER IS UNKNOWN.
ESTHER WAS THE QUEEN OF AHASUERUS (XERXES) AND THE DAUGHTER OF ABIHAIL, A
BENJAMITE. ESTHER APPEARS IN THE BIBLE AS A “QUEEN OF PERSIA” AND "WOMAN OF
DEEP PIETY, FAITH, COURAGE, PATRIOTISM AND CAUTION.

RAYTOWN SUMMER LUNCH MINISTRY
STEPPED UP IN MARCH TO ADDRESS THE
FOOD NEEDS OF THE CHILDREN IN THE
RAYTOWN SCHOOL DISTRICT WHEN
SCHOOL CLOSURES OCCURRED RELATED TO
COVID-19. CURRENTLY, THEY HAVE NOW
COMPLETED SIX WEEKS OF DISTRIBUTING
BAGS OF GROCERIES TO FAMILIES WITH
CHILDREN IN THE SCHOOL DISTRICT EACH
TUESDAY FROM 4 - 6 PM. THE PROGRAM
HAS GIVEN OUT BETWEEN 120-150 BAGS
OF GROCERIES EACH WEEK AND THEIR
FOCUS HAS BEEN LUNCH ITEMS THAT KIDS
WOULD ENJOY, VERY MUCH LIKE THE
LUNCHES PROVIDED DURING THE SUMMER.
ALL SCHOOLS IN THE KANSAS CITY AREA
AND IN MISSOURI WILL BE CONTINUING
ON-LINE CLASSES THROUGH THE
REMAINDER OF THIS ACADEMIC YEAR
ENDING IN MAY. THE SCHOOL DISTRICT
SUMMER SCHOOL IS NOW PLANNED FOR
JULY 6 - 31.
SUNDAY, JUNE 28, 2020
ALL DONATIONS ON MISSION
SUNDAY WILL GO TOWARDS THE RAYTOWN SUMMER
LUNCH MINISTRY.
RAYTOWN SUMMER LUNCH MINISTRY WILL
NOT LOOK LIKE IT DID LAST YEAR. WE WILL
STILL BE FEEDING CHILDREN IN THE RAYTOWN
SCHOOL DISTRICT, BUT IT WILL BE A
DIFFERENT FORMAT. THE NEW PLAN FOR THIS
SUMMER IS TO CONTINUE TO PROVIDE BAGS OF
GROCERIES EACH WEEK THROUGH THE ENTIRE
SUMMER UNTIL SCHOOL STARTS AGAIN IN
AUGUST OR AS LONG AS WE CAN FINANCIALLY
SUPPORT THIS.
EACH BAG OF GROCERIES COSTS
APPROXIMATELY $20 FOR EACH FAMILY. (A
GIFT OF $40 WOULD PROVIDE GROCERIES FOR
2 FAMILIES, A GIFT OF $100 WOULD PROVIDE
GROCERIES FOR 5 FAMILIES, ETC)
UNFORTUNATELY, WE WILL NOT BE NEEDING
VOLUNTEERS THIS SUMMER BECAUSE WE
WILL NOT BE PREPACKING FOOD, PACKING
LUNCHES, OR DELIVERING LUNCHES OUT INTO
THE COMMUNITY.
WE ARE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER AND WE ARE STRONG IN
OUR SUPPORT OF RAYTOWN, IT'S SCHOOL DISTRICT, AND
IT'S CHILDREN.
