Program for June
The perfect topic for summer in Hou-ston…
ICELAND
Charleen Baugh, a former member of our Club, will be presenting a program on her recent photography trip. Charleen says” I’m looking forward to coming and visiting and telling about Iceland. It is a pretty amazing place. It was a great trip, but it was really, real-
ly hard physically. I should have been
about 30 years younger to do this
one. I will tell more at the meeting
about the shooting conditions and the
challenges of dealing with it all, but in
the end I am happy that I captured
some images I like. I learned some new
shooting techniques and I returned with
many great memories. See you in
June. Charleen “
She will show her photographs and dis-
cuss where and how shots were taken
as well as any issues involved. Logistics
and tour leader information will also be
discussed. Do not miss this one.

from the President...
Greetings! We're almost half way through the year now. Time is flying by, as usual. I want to thank Mike Simmons for leading a wonderful field trip to the coast to pho-tograph the Milky Way in May-a great time was had by all who attended. Field trips are an important adjunct to what we learn and share in our Club meetings. It gives us more time to practice new techniques, enjoy time with our fellow members and share/learn from each other. We are working on several more opportunities for this year. Please let us know if you have ideas for a good field trip. We also have been distributing Photo-chrome cards at local camera shops to reach new members who may not be aware of us. Please remember to spread the word about our Club to peo-ple who have an interest in photog-raphy and improving their skills. The larger our Club becomes, the more we can offer members. Stephanie
May Field Trip Report
Seven intrepid photographers trouped behind Mike Simmons, red head lamps aglow, down a gravel trail, to a board walk and beyond, down to the shore. Off the Blue Water Highway at midnight, it was very dark, but gradually ,we got our night vision and set up our gear. There was some light pollution from the offshore rigs but it was not enough to deter our determination to shoot the thick mass of stars that is the Milky Way. The night was warm and the breeze just stiff enough to deter the insects. We stayed until 2 AM when the clouds be-gan to thicken and our eyelids became heavy. All together it was a grand field trip. See a sample of our efforts below. We were fortunate to have Mike to lead us and we give him a huge thanks for all of his work. (Editorial comment: We would all go
again in a minute.) Carmen
