Water sports — A variety of factors contributes to water-sports mishaps — Biggest is lack of Personal Flotation Devices

Pools, lakes & ocean swimming factors:— No swimming in APG waters— Lack of parental supervision for small children— No lifeguards— Riptides


Season: May 1 – Sept. 30 Ozone formation rate increases at 80oF and above Daily forecast published at http://airnow.gov/ Codes Orange and Red are unhealthy

— APG community encouraged to defer lawn mowing, limit driving, & reduce outdoor activity from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

— Garrison government fuel station closed, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.— Flags displayed at main gates

Ozone Action Days


Purpose: To cut back on power use during hot & humid days

— Turn off unused computers & monitors— Unplug unused appliances— Turn off AC units or raise the temperature— Turn off lights in unoccupied rooms— Put office equipment into sleep mode— Shut windows & doors to preserve

conditioned space

Power Advisory


Purpose: To conserve water in times of hot weather, less rain, or if a water main breaks

Water conservation measures will be in effect for Aberdeen Proving Ground personnel and organizations

Specifically prohibited: — Washing down sidewalks, walkways, driveways, parking lots, tennis

courts, or other hard-surfaced areas. — Washing down buildings or structures for purposes other than

immediate fire protection.— Washing any car, motorbike, boat, trailer, airplane or other vehicle. — Flushing gutters or allowing water to run or accumulate in gutters or

streets— Reduce use of water for landscaping, irrigation, dust suppression &

hydrant flushing.
